  • Tough tool that works
Color: Gold
I bought this to remove and replace a rear wheel bearing on my Subaru Forester. I live in upstate NY where there is lots of salt and rust, so I knew I would have a lot of trouble removing the hub and bearing assembly. I did not use the included nuts. Instead, I removed two of the wheel studs and bought 1/2 inch by 2.5 inch grade 8 bolts, nuts, and washers to mount the tool to the hub. I beat the crap out of the tool. I wailed on it with an 8 lb sledge hammer, and I liberally applied pb blaster penetrating oil to the crack where the hub mounts to the knuckle. I hit it again and again, with no sign of it budging. The bolts were starting to bend and loosen up a little, so I re tightened them and kept hammering. I was thinking about giving up and taking it into a shop to repair. I applied more penetrating oil and considered my next step. I had bent the hub flange so putting everything back together and driving it to the shop would be difficult. Maybe I could remove the whole knuckle and take it to the shop and have them press out the bearing. After I regained my strength, I started beating on the tool some more, using all my might. I had nothing to lose. After 10 or 12 mighty swings of the hammer, the hub suddenly broke free! Victory was mine! The tool held up well to the abuse it was dealt. I was hitting it so hard, I was concerned about breaking the welds, but they held tight. ... show more

  • Worth its weight in gold.

After spending 2 hours with a mini sledge and a 8lb sledge, trying to break the bearing loose, from my wife’s vehicle, I started looking at YouTube videos for other options. I came across a video of a guy using this tool and realized it was exactly what I needed. I wasn’t crazy that it was $80, so I went to my local auto shop and asked if they carried it. Of course, they didn’t, but he could order me one. I asked him how much, and he told me $160. I told him no, then went home and ordered it off here. When it arrived, I immediately got to work. Attaching it to the wheel bearing was a breeze. It came with the hardware I needed. It also came with several different sized nuts, fender washers, and lock washers. After I installed it on the bearing, it literally took one good smack and the wheel bearing came out. Highly recommend this tool, especially if you live in the north. It will save you copious amounts of time and frustration. ... show more

Make sure there's a support under the suspension when using this tool. You lose a lot of impact when the suspension is able to move freely.

  • Worked as expected
Color: Gold
I have watched a few videos on people using these. Took the best advise and set it up. One whack and the bearing was loose. A few pointers...put a jack under the lower ball joint before you hit it. It will give a better leverage point. Mine came with multiple washers. I put two washers on then the nuts. Make sure you tighten this up well or you will damage the nuts. I have seen people putting the nuts on finger tight and then they damage the nut. Also, I used a wire brush on the screws holding the bearing in then sprayed with penetrant. I was done in a reasonable time. ... show more
