  • Short, readable guide takes coffee brewing to the next level.
Really fun for a person who likes coffee enough to learn a little about what a serious expert thinks about the brewing process, without becoming a chemist. Strikes a perfect balance between the minutiae of technical science and simple kitchen tips. The book is short and the chapters are short, written in a conversational style for a lay audience. But, there's enough detail to stretch the knowledge of most casual coffee drinkers to the next level. Great gift. And, it definitely offers ideas for making a better cup of coffee, which is a practical benefit, not just theory. ... show more

  • Excellent.
I‘ve purchased so many books about coffee, but this is the only one I would truly recommend. If only I had found this one first, I would have saved a lot of money.

  • Brief, good read - looks good on table
A few reviews on here disparage the book as 'Wikipedia lite' and 'not that informative'. However I think the book does exactly what it advertises - sheds light on the science behind coffee harvesting, roasting, and brewing. While I could've certainly found this information on the internet (what can't you find on the internet, really..), I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different methods of roasting and the processes behind it, etc. The book looks great, and I usually keep it open to a page near my coffee set up to remind me that coffee is more than just something you drink to wake up, and that the process from tree to cup is long and delicate. ... show more

  • Awesome read!
I love this book! It’s extrmeely informative and I love how much I learned about coffee from reading it. Each large portion of info they give you that may or may not be confusing they provide cute little diagrams and pictures to help you understand it better and I really appreciate that. Definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Well written, incredibly informative
I cannot say enough good things about this book. If you are a coffee connoisseur (or pretend to be), this book with give you more knowledge about the bean than anything I have ever read. The illustrations are fantastic, the information is great, and it caused me to consume 10 CUPS IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. Caffeine not included. ... show more

  • Ok But Not Instructional
Didn't teach me much about how to make better coffee.
