So like a lot of people, I've been guilty of using certain kitchen tools long past the point they should have been replaced. Silicone brushes tend turn funky faster than a duck in a disco but they seem fine as long as you don't sniff them. Give it a try, give all your silicone brushes (and other tools) the sniff test. Then look at it closely. Closer than that. Even closer....that's it! If it looks fine and the smell doesn't automatically repel you away, you're golden, carry on. However if has gone funky, these brushes are a great replacement. I wasn't really expecting much and time will tell how durable they are but for now they are working great. I've now ditched all my two piece brushes because they aren't easier to clean and have non of the advantages they claim. From what I've seen so far, these new brushes are more durable, more comfortable and they look great as well. I do wish the hard plastic in the handle went further up towards the top but that's a minor complaint and it doesn't affect the use of the brushes at all. I also wish they had more colors but again, not a big deal. If they stand the test of time I'll likely buy a complete set of the various sizes. ... show more

These are solid silicon with a metal core and perform perfectly. I use them most often to brush oil or butter all around the surface of a slightly warped fry pan. Also useful as a prep tool to brush olive oil under the skin of a raw roast chicken and to coat the inside of popover pan cups with oil or melted butter. These brushes are very durable and easy to use. We use them for all cooking uses - applying any products to food or even brushing oil on surfaces for nonstick. After use just place in the dishwasher.
