This is such a convinient little tool to use for at-home blow outs and for blow drying your hair in a way that really eliminates frizz. Of course, you can do the same with a blow dryer and round brush--but this product is the two-in-one version of that, and cuts so much of the styling time out that it is well worth the purchase. I've never tried the popular competitors that sell the same type of product, but I've had other Hot Tools products before and they feel like they are pretty durable and good quality. Thus, I opted for this over the others. I've had it for a few months now and haven't noticed any extra damage to my hair or wear-and-tear of the product itself like bristles falling out. My hair is naturally wavy/frizzy, but comes out super sleek after styling with this product. You twist the bottom to turn it on, and it has a lower setting and a higher setting. The higher setting does get pretty hot, so be careful touching the metal edges. It's pretty noisy, but I'm not sure you could make something like this much quieter. I will admit I didn't read the manual thouroughly, so I'm not sure if they included instructions for cleaning. Food for thought, though, this is probably more difficult to clean than a round brush since you cannot fully submerge it in water/vinegar/soap/whatever. I do use styling products before using this, and I haven't noticed a buildup too bad on the bristles yet, but when I do I will have to figure out a more innovative way to get it 100% clean. Otherwise, this is such a cool little innovative product that helps to cut down on time to get ready and really promises frizz-free results with a small learning curve! ... show more

The Hot Tools 24K Gold One-Step Hair Dryer is undeniably a great tool for those with longer hair. Its oval-shaped brush is perfect for achieving a straight and polished look and does help reduce frizz and leave hair looking shiny and healthy. However, as someone with shorter hair (above the shoulders), I found that the brush was a bit too large for my liking. The size and oval shape of the brush (instead of round) make it exceptionally well-suited for creating sleek, straight styles, but it falls short when it comes to adding volume, which is something I prefer for my shorter hair.Despite this, the overall performance is impressive, and I would still recommend it to those with longer hair who are looking for a convenient and efficient way to style and dry their locks. ... show more

As a working mom with two kids under two, I had to shave time off my routine and still look put together! It used to take me 20-30 min to blow-dry and flat iron my hair, and now it’s more like 10-15 min routine... Just like with makeup or paint, the dryer is only as good as your gel or prepping product.... (If I don’t prep my hair with product, it will turn out fuzzy). The two pictures show my hair with just a blowout with pre-product and, in the second picture after I add additional product and flat iron (if I really want a smooth/glossy finish). But, I’d in a hurry, just the dryer and a gloss finish (argan oil etc) looks pretty good. It is a little heavy and took a few days to get used to, but it’s been about 9 months and I never use my blow-dryer anymore. I also find this much easier in drying my toddlers long, curly hair as you can brush and dry in one move (I never could perfect the two-handed round brush and dryer!). And, what I really love is it makes unwashed hair so much easier to freshen up! Like, if you have a weird flat spot from sleeping or a kink from using a rubber band... this does wonders in a refresh! I had hoped that I could use this for large/loose curls. While it definitely adds volume, my hair is not long enough to achieve curl due to the size of the barrel. But, I still love it! Update: Feb 2022. I have now been using this for a couple of years and am still very happy with my purchase. The one design flaw is the cord. The product instructions do say not to wrap it/bend, but realistically that’s the only way to put it away. Thus, it now has a short and has to be in a specific positions to work. I now have short hair (about chin length) and far prefer this to a blow dryer and round brush for the best volume and styling. It’s by far the easiest way to my daughters hair, which is much longer now and still a lot of natural curl/ tangles! Overall, I like it well enough to buy it again. ... show more

For the record, I hate styling my hair. This tool did wonders for my fine, wavy hair (any breeze and it’s messy); it’s never been under better control. It smoothed and dried my hair very quickly. This was easy to use. It lifted and straightened my hair from the roots since my keratin straightening is growing out for 2 months now. I used a microfiber towel on my head for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture. I separated my hair into sections. I used a glove on my left hand because at high temperature it was really hot. This gave a beautiful blowout. I used a curling iron on the ends to turn them under more. My only complaint was that it was bigger and heavier than I expected. This makes drying my thin hair easy and fast! I set it on low and literally I am done in about 8 comb thrus on my hair. It is great for straight hair & for adding a bend up or down on the ends. Can also add a little top crown volume. My hair looks smooth & shiny when done. Perfect!
