This tumbler works ok. However, at room temperature the wall cavity is only 1/3 full of gel, up to the lower edge of the silicone band. See the photo of a dry, empty cup. Just out of the freezer, it’s up to the higher edge of the band. So, it doesn’t chill the top third and it has the the unusual appearance of gel droplets that don’t go away. Maybe the manufacturers don’t fill it with more gel to account for more expansion in the case someone puts it in a super cold freezer. Maybe it would be a hazard to have frozen gel at the rim, where it touches your lips, but the frozen gel level stops well short of that in regular usage. Whatever the reason, the gel droplets are not aesthetic, but the bottom half does help keep the contents cold and the silicone does not get wet or slippery in your hand. ... show more

I've had a similar freezer mug for years, and it kept my beverages so cold that I'd have slush all around the inside edges. Very yummy. There is not enough fluid in this mug; it only comes up about 1/3 when frozen, and it melts very quickly. It is attractive and sturdy, but it needs a thicker layer of goop inside. ... show more
