  • Hoodman Glasses Model Hoodeye Eyecup for Canon 5D Mark III, 7D, 1D, and 1DS Mark III Models
Size: For Glasses Eyecup
Shipping was fast, on time. Having done a few shoots with the Hoodman Eyecup (have two, one for each camera), I found the eyecups to work perfectly and as advertised. I like that I can easily rotate the cup for horizontal and vertical viewing. The rubber composition seems durable and is comfortable cupped against the glasses I wear. A bi-product of the design is harsh light cancellation which aids greatly through the viewfinder. Those who wear glasses and lean into viewfinders should give this Hoodman a try. As far as camera gear goes, a simplistic addition and very reasonably priced. After about four or more hours on a shoot it becomes priceless. A very good product. ... show more

  • HoodmanUSA provides quality camera accessories.
Size: For Glasses Eyecup
Even though the ad does not specifically say the HoodEYE will fit a Canon 5D Mark IV, it does. I tried ordering (at a very low price) an eye cup for my Canon 5D Mark IV from a vendor who stated in the product description that their eye cup would fit. When I got the eye cup from the other vender it did not even come close fitting my camera. I turned to HoodmanUSA who is known for quality camera accessories. The HoodEYE, for shooters who wear glasses, did the trick. I was able to snap the eyecup right on to my camera. I wear glasses and the HoodEYE effectively blocks the light, so accurate focusing can occur, especially when using a lens that requires manual mode. This item is worth every penny. ... show more

  • Great little device
Size: For Glasses Eyecup
I wear glasses and look through my viewfinder with my left eye. As a result, my glasses were constantly bumping up against some portion of my Canon 7d, and/or my nose and cheek were smudging up the LCD screen. This eyepiece allows me to hold the camera slightly farther away from my face, my glasses only come in contact with the rubber eyepiece, and outside light from the sides and rear is effectively blocked out. One does need to rotate the eyepiece 90 degrees clockwise when holding the camera in the "vertical" position when shooting, but I do not find this to be a notable inconvenience. While it does block sight of approximately half of the first line of the LCD screen, I find that it is very easy push the lip the eyepiece out of the way with a thumb or forefinger. When putting the camera into my bag, a small backpack, I do have to take a little care to make sure that the eyepiece is not caught or hooked over the zipper at the top of the backpack. Once again, this is not a significant inconvenience. I would recommend this item to anyone who wears glasses--and as well, to anyone who experiences the annoyance of facial smudges on his/her LCD screen. ... show more

  • Comfortable, Good for a few years. Not for glasses
Size: Regular Eyecup
I purchased this eyecup 3.5 years ago and am updating my review. First of all: it fits my 5D Mark III just fine. The cup can rotate so it will fit either right or left eye comfortably. I found it nice and soft, and it never irritated my skin. The eyecup is designed to fit your face and minimizes the amount of light bleeding in from the side opposite your nose. If you wear glasses when you shoot then this is really not for you, the extra flap will just be in your way. It held up well for 2 years, but sometime during the third year the rubber began to crack and has now largely disintegrated. I still consider it a reasonable value but be aware that it won't last forever. Haven't decided whether to replace it, I may just put the Canon part back on if I can find it. ... show more

  • Eye find this quite comfortable
Size: Regular Eyecup
The Hoodman Eyecup is far more comfortable than the stock Canon eye piece used on the 7D, plain and simple. I highly recommend this to anybody shooting with a 7D. With the stock eye piece, I found a few issues. First, after using it extensively for a day I found that my brow hurt. I must have been jamming the camera against my face and the solid rubber of the eye piece browbeat me. The reason I was jamming it against my face is that I struggled to get the VF properly aligned to my eye such that I could see the entire VF area. I was perpetually having to shift a bit to see one side or the other due to my own poor alignment. Not anymore... With the Hoodman Eyecup on my camera, I find that every time I pull the camera to my eye it is properly aligned. The cup is very comfortable and just "feels right" when I use it. It is easy to install and a joy to use. Pros: * Comfortable against the eye area * Blocks extraneous light * Aids with VF usage and framing I can think of no cons. ... show more

  • Found it hard to use with glasses on
Size: For Glasses Eyecup
Felt very uncomfortable because it was huge and did not offer any benefit. Some flaws with the product according to me are 1. Right side of the hood protrudes out too much that you have to push your glasses against it with pressure and that makes it very hard to use. 2. It cuts the view on the corners when viewing through the viewfinder unless you push hard with the glasses on. 3. Preview on the LCD is blocked due to ita huge size. ... show more

  • Not just for video
Size: Regular Eyecup
I do a lot of outdoor photography in one of the hottest and brightest cities in the US as leader of HoustonPhotowalks. This cup is a huge improvement over whats on the camera when you buy it. Blocking out surrounding light improves the readability of the numbers and protects your eye from reflections on the LCD. When the camera is at the face, someone using a flash behind you can reflect off the rear display, sending the pop right into your eye. Same thing can happen when the sun is right behind you. This cup wont improve my photography, but does eliminate the "spots" in my eyes when photographing in a crowed or in the open sun. For those that switch between portrait and landscape: the cup rotates pretty easy, so a firm tug will put it in the correct position for you. For those commenting on the price: you have a valid point, it's a bit spendy, and I think more people would buy one if the price was more reasonable. ... show more
