This is a very study bookcase. Looks good and fits in to many different decors. The crossbar construction adds stability to the unit. I would rate it a 5 if the instructions were clearer. Just remember no matter what the directions say that the two bolts that join the two poles together face inside toward the shelves and the four holes for the crossbar all must face to the rear. That said really well constructed and solid—the shelves are pre screwed with metal sockets and reinforced to keep you from damaging the wood. The fame is sturdy! However, the shelves are weak I wouldn't put more than 30lbs on a shelf. That's a far cry from their 110lbs per shelf.
