Description

Configure the workstation that's right for you with this multi-unit steel garage system. Durable garage furniture components are made using high quality steel with 2 mm thick body and 2.5 mm thick framing for strength. Cabinet doors and drawer fronts feature a sleek silver finish for enhanced appearance. Cabinet doors feature a Cylinder Lock for security and recessed handles for a catch-free surface. Body and frame have a black finish. Includes a pull-out shelf with ball bearing glides. Mobile cabinets move easily on 4" locking swivel casters. All units sold separately. 3 year limited warranty. From the Manufacturer Homak Manufacturing was founded in 1947 in Chicago by Sigmund H. Danziger. The name "Homak" was coined after a sign that Sigmund saw on a hat store. Originally a manufacturer of steel kitchen cabinets, Homak Expanded its product offerings in the 1960s to included a separate line of hardware products such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories. Homak's hardware line remained strong and was accepted in many major retail businesses of its time. Following Sigmund's death in 1979, his wife, Gertrude, ran the company for 25 years. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak extended its product line with automotive, hospital, and sporting goods. In January of 2005 Homak was acquired by JVA and moved its office to western Pennsylvania. Its facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center. Today, Homak emphasizes tool storage and gun cabinet security. The full product line consists of hand-carry toolboxes, tool bags, parts organizers, tool storage cabinets, workbenches, garage furniture, safety cabinets, spill containment systems, P.B & E. products, steel lockers, gun cabinets, fire-resistant safes, ammo storage boxes and accessories. I ordered two of these and am very happy with the purchase. The installation instructions leave a lot to be desired - no written instructions, small illustrations, missing references to specific parts. After getting past that, however, with a bit of thought the build is almost intuitive. Don't force anything - if properly positioned, the installation is easy. Also, as noted in another review, if you want to join two units to create a double cabinet, it's pretty easy. Just temporarily install the side fasteners on the sides that will be joined (one on top and bottom each) then remove them after the rest of the cabinet is complete. Push two together, put the bolts through and voila, double cabinet! Great value, will be buying two more. ... show more

I ordered three cabinets and they arrived by USMail (!) in good shape with no damage at all. All parts were present and accounted for in each box. Foam sheets an cardboard prevented adjacent pieces from abrading each other. All the panels looked reasonably sturdy and well painted. Now as for assembly... The instructions are terrible. There is NO mention or pictures of how to assemble the hinges, none. There are no pictures of the top and how to install it. There is only the bottom being shown. Fortunately I was able to figure out how things went and the assembly went along easily, but I've done this kind of thing before. Beware if you're not very intuitive. The assembled cabinets were sufficiently sturdy and looked pretty sharp with their industrial black and grey coloring. Overall they are an excellent value for the money and I recommend them to anyone willing to do a little work themselves and save a big chunk of money. Assembly time for me was about 30 minutes each, but you might take an hour and a half if you don't have a lot of experience and no power tools (I have a battery operated nut driver). ... show more

Was not difficult to put together. Took about 30 minutes to put the first one together. The other two took even less time! They are very sturdy after everything is tightened up. The top and bottom go on exactly the same. The instructions omitted the top installation. But very happy with the results. Would buy again! All hardware was of good quality. They came very well packaged. I ordered 3. 2 came in one box. The other came in it's own box. But no damage in transit and Amazon delivery brought it to my garage for delivery! ... show more

Seems like it will be a good cabinet for paint storage. Only time will tell. Like another has said, the bottom lip makes it tough to get larger items on the bottom. I had to un-do my installation not once, but TWICE, due to the instructions being horrible. #1: Part D is listed as "Peak Plates", which are the top and bottom. It wasn't until I had the 2nd almost fully bolted on when I realized that the two part "D" are NOT created equal. The one that it to be used for the TOP has the "Homak" label on it. If you put that "D" part on the BOTTOM, the name will be upside down. Maybe not a big deal for a garage cabinet, but if you're anal like me, you'll want it right-side up. #2: OK, this one didn't trip me up, but other have mentioned it, so for completeness' sake: The two sides ("Cheek Plates") and the back ("Backboard") have the shelp support ridges in them. So make sure all the elements have them on the INSIDE and pointing the same way (up or down). #3: The aforementioned "Peak plates" attach to the sides/back, but there's no real indication of which side element goes to the inside of the cabinet, and which stays on the outside. The way I did it (which appears correct) is that the rear (longer dimension) of the top/bottom goes OUTSIDE of the backplate...while the sides go INSIDE the side pieces. So, if you're looking at the side straight on, you'll see only the side plate on both the top at the bottom...however, if you're looking at the rear, you'll see the ~1" lip of the top/bottom overhanging the back plate. Assembly should've only taken me 30 minutes, but due to these do-overs, it took me over an hour. Here's hoping I save someone else that hassle! ... show more

This is a great cabinet put in my trailer for supplies and it is very sturdy and well made. Went together easy , it’s light weight but not flimsy at all. Has plenty of room I have floor jack and many other items in it for my trailer .πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

    • Good cabinet for the price but long assembly

The good news: $100 gets you a nice looking, very sturdy wall cabinet with a well functioning lock. The bad news: Directions are bad, there are some QC issues and working alone it took me two hours to assemble and hang - a second person would have saved considerable time. The long assembly time was due in part to a large quantity of nuts that need to be held and tightened, many in locations where a second pari or hands would be very useful. And in part due to bad directions. I can't help you with the second pair of hands, but a few hints on the directions - Shelves are held in place by the internal slates, even though they are drilled with holes. When you assemble, be sure the slates face up - Top piece, contrary to what the directions indicate, must go on last - The unit ships with lag bolts, not the indicated wood screws, to hold it to the wall. Be sure you have a rachet and/or a driver bit for your drill. And you'll really want an electric screwdriver for this job. While the cabinet is just fine, you can see some weak QC in a few places. First of all, the bag contain nuts was broken, scattering them all over the box. Also, the company's logo was applied at a strange angle to the front of the cabinet, suggesting someone on the line really wasn't happy. And lastly, one of the lag bolts broke of when I was tightening it. I simply drilled a new hole and used a long wood screw instead so no big deal, but it shouldn't have happened. ... show more
