These are our absolute favorite baby food and I am SO sad to see they have been unavailable for a few weeks now. This product is awesome. First of all the flavor is great. My son has acid reflux and a lot of American made packets taste more sour and therefore have higher acid content. These are not sour, they taste awesome. I honestly love them myself. Yup, I'm one of those adults who love these kinds of fruit and veggie mix pouches as an on-the-go snack, and does the rest of the family. Finding ones that aren't mostly just flavored applesauce can be a challenge. While this particular brand does have apples in the mix for this Banana Llama flavor, they aren't the top ingredient. That goes to bananas, followed by mangoes and apricots. You can actually taste these fruits rather than having so little of anything other than apples that all you taste is apples regardless of what other fruits or vegetables may be listed. We know that whole produce is better to eat, but the convenience of these makes them a better choice for snacks or packed lunches. They work great as edible freezer packs to help keep the contents of your lunchbox cold, too. Over the holidays when family and friends were visiting, one of the teens had just had braces put on and if you've ever had braces, you know how for the first several days it can be painful to chew, and there are several foods listed on the list of ones to avoid so brackets aren't popped off or wires broken, like whole apples. The teen is a vegetarian, and their orthodontist suggested pouches like this as a way for her to be able to snack on fruits and vegetables without worrying about damage to her braces or getting smooshy bits of berries or bananas or little seeds stuck in the hardware. Turns out these pouches also work great in baked goods as well if you want to swap out the oil. You can usually do this with applesauce, though these pouches add a bigger flavor kick if you get one that is close to the flavor of the baked goods you are making. These Banana Llama pouches work great for banana muffins or bread. The hint of mango and apricot add definite flavor interest in a great way. The trash created by these pouches is a concern, but there are recycling centers that will take them. Luckily we have one about an hour away, though there are online sites that will send you kits/materials to be able to ship them empty pouches for recycling should you wish to do so. Price-wise, these are about a dollar more a pouch than US-based brands such as Sprout or Peter Rabbit, These come out to around $0.85/ounce, while Sprout (also organic, no sugar, USDA verified) is $0.42/ounce. Peter Rabbit is usually around $0.40/ounce, Happy Kid is around $0.31/ounce, and all are organic with no added sugar. One difference though, is these other brands often have apples as the first ingredient, and the other fruit(s) is(are) more often than not fruit JUICE rather than fruit puree. Like the Peter Rabbit Organics Apple & Grape pouch. It's apple puree and grape juice, not whole pureed grapes. The Happy Kid Apple, Blueberry, & Pomegranate is pureed apples, pureed blueberries, and pomegranate juice versus pureed pomegranate seeds. It's a little thing, I suppose, but it still ends up being flavored applesauce when you think you are actually getting two or more kinds of fruit/produce. Like I said above, with this brand of pouches, you really can taste all the flavors that make up the blend, not just apples. Is it worth twice the cost of other brands? Eh, not totally convinced of that. The flavor is excellent, and better than almost every other brand we've tried. I know that shipping from Italy jacks up the price, though. If there were more pouches in the box to help offset the price so that the per ounce was a lot closer to other organic brands, I'd happily switch. ... show more
