    • Great imaging, helpful for those who know how to use it correctly
I purchased this to hopefully assess my new ceiling for possible leaks after recent storms. The instructions on how to use the device were clear, but to be completely honest, I didn't really know what I was looking for at first. It does have a laser on it so you can pinpoint exactly what area you're looking at and the different colors reveal different temperatures. There is a legend off to the side of the screen to correlate to the different temperatures. I was able to clearly see the difference between my ceiling light versus other parts of my ceiling, but I quickly realized after a few minutes that I didn't quite know how to correctly locate a leak (long story short, I didn't have one). I think this is a great tool in the right hands. I believe that there is also a slot for some sort of memory card, but I did not use it myself. ... show more

I bought this to find HVAC ducts that are not heating properly. It makes a difficult task super easy. On a hot or cold day you can easily see insulation and stud detail. In fact you can see where your fingerprints briefly touched the wall for several seconds. I viewed my old fuse box and found 2 hot circuits that were overloaded. Incredible value for money. Seems to work just as well (sensitivity, display) as a much more expensive FLIR camera that I have. Resolution is as advertised and plenty good enough to know what you are looking at. I bought it when I was going to inspect a classic car, and my FLIR was elsewhere. Was delivered quickly. It was easy to see which cylinders were misfiring, their spark plugs were much cooler than the others. Also easy to check coolant temperature and circulation. I have not checked for accuracy, but it certainly gives plausible numbers, no reason to suspect a problem. ... show more

    • This thing is awesome! I found a lot of energy leaks in my house thanks to this camera.
I bought this because our air conditioner was always running and I figures I could find areas of the house that might be leaking the cool air. I quickly fell into a rabbit hole of fixes. It's very good at identifying areas that are not insulated in the ceiling. It also allowed me to identify a massive leak from my 2 air handlers, which were basically cooling my attic and crawl space. Other areas I found were leaks around every register in my house (leaking into the attic) and the weather stripping around 3 external doors. I replace weather stripping (easy), sealing and insulated air handler (fairly easy) and spray foam sealed all my registers (hard due to number and hiking around the attic.) Only mistake I made was falling thru my office ceiling as I was finishing, which extended this effort a couple of weeks in repairs and painting. I look forward to winter and seeing where else I might be bleeding energy. Take your time to get used to using this. there are a lot of settings for different situations. Incredible value! Nice build, and nice software. Lots of options to suit to your liking. Screen and resolution is great, the refresh rate is perfect. HOWEVER, be aware that you need to keep the device POWERED ON in order to charge the internal CMOS battery responsible for keeping track of time and date.     • I'm excited to use it but....
I'm excited to get started with my new tool but I did not know I would need a computer to use it. I wanted this for so long I reread the listing I've and over researching and comparing it to others. I don't remember reading anything that said a computer was necessary to operate it. I knew you could hook it up to a computer to view & store images. I thought I was getting a strictly stand alone device with computer capabilities. I don't own a computer or laptop. Luckily my bosses where I work agreed to give me access to a company computer so I can update and initialize my device. When I test it out I will report back. Also I read in a review that this model only displays readings in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. Not both. this is only a minor set back. In anticipation I looked up common C° to F° & visa versa conversion charts and also the formula for converting both ways came up too. Easy to find on line. ... show more
