  • Love this backpack so far
Color: Black (Black/Black/Black)
Love this backpack so far. I've had it for about a month now and no problems yet. It's great for college, very roomy. I could fit my 14 inch laptop, 2 noteboooks, and 2 binders with some extra room in the bigger pocket. I could probably fit another binder or 2 if I really needed too. The other 2 pockets are also pretty roomy. I fit my graphing calculator, pencil case, makeup, charger, earphones in the little pouches in the smaller compartment with extra room. I really love the little phone pouch on the strap. It's really useful, especially when I need to bike from class to class. I'm a pretty petite girl, so I was looking for a backpack that could carry a lot of stuff, but not look so bulky and this was perfect for me. Held a lot of stuff, didn't look too big, comfortable to wear. ... show more

  • Great everyday backpack
Color: True Navy
I bought this as a temporary replacement until I received my Northface backpack from warranty repair. Purchased it on sale from Amazon and am loving it. It is big enough for my daily use and has pockets for pens and other small items in the front pocket. The side water bottle area can fit a large bottle. The main area can hold quite a good amount. I’ve put a some groceries bags in there full of fruits and light items without problem. The material seems good and I think it should last at least a few years if properly taken care of. Hope it will last that long as I do like it. I’ve been using it for about two weeks and the only downside that I’ve noticed so far is the zipper is not that easy to operate if you are holding it single handed. My Northface bag was easy to use even single handed. The quality control and material looks very good. Material is harder than some bags. I purchased a couple of the high Sierra loop backpacks from another online vendor and the workmanship did not seem as good as this bag. I had to exchange them. This one just looks better overall. I also purchased a High Sierra loop from Amazon - different color - and the quality was very good as well. Not sure if they came from better batches/ factories. Some reviews say the High Sierra bags’ quality is bad and others say it is good. I have seen both sides and it seems to vary where you purchase from, to an extent. I will update any changes I may see while using this bag in the next few weeks. ... show more

  • Where do I put my smartphone???
Color: Black (Black/Black/Black)
I got this because I wanted an inexpensive man bag to carry my phone, phone accessories, wallet, beverages, snacks and everything else I will need to endure this years jury duty in style and comfort. I didn't want anything too bulky because I don't want to look like I'm carrying a giant backpack with everything I own in it. If it's not too much bigger than a ladies large purse then I'm less likely to get angry glares from a judge when I tote it up into the jury box with me. The materials seem pretty nice and looks attractive, however the bottom of the pack is the same material of the rest of the pack which feels a little thin for the bottom. As thin as it is, I wouldn't carry anything too hard and pointy or let this drag on the ground. I would not carry a bunch of heavy hardcover school books in this for fear they would eventually wear through. This has three compartments that are all full depth. The large compartment at the back has fairly decent padding between your back and the contents of the pack. The next compartment has a few segmented pockets for writing utensils, glasses, etc. The last compartment has an opening for a USB cable, for whatever reason. I suppose you might want to charge a device in the pack with a solar charger that is outside the pack. The only problem is that compartment is full depth so whatever device you are connecting will probably be down at the bottom of the bag. Unfortunately there is no pocket that feels like the right place to put my smartphone. This seems quite odd since smartphones are a pretty common accessory these days. I'm going to pull some stitches that separate two of the deepest segmented pouches to make it wide enough to hold my phone. One section is about 2.75" wide and the next is about 1.25" wide, so opening it up to 4" should give me a deep pocket that is big enough, not too big, in the right spot to be accessible, but not too accessible. High Sierra really should add a second layer of fabric to the bottom to reinforce it. I think they should also replace the segmented pencil holder area with a 9" x 5" horizontal pouch with a zipper. Then it could hold whatever it's supposed to hold now, as well as the average large smartphone, and nothing would fall out if the pack is inverted. It would also keep your phone at the top/middle of the pack and behind 2 zippers and 2 layers of cloth. They could also reduce the depth of the smallest outside compartment to make it appropriate for smaller items that you might want to keep accessible and safe near the top of the pack. What I got looks exactly like what I ordered. I even confirmed that the product really exists at high Sierra's website which shows the exact same images that Amazon uses. Unlike other reviewers, I don't doubt the authenticity of this product. It's naturally made in China, but seems like pretty decent quality for the price. For occasional overnight travel or outings for a day like trips to the beach, short hikes, or even jury duty, this seems like a good fit. For all day, everyday use like school or college you might want something more robust with larger capacity and more features. ... show more

  • Rain soaked it!
Color: True Navy
Walked to my car in a bit of rain (I had an umbrella) and was shocked to find everything in it (my books, notes, folders, calendar) all wet along the top from the rain soaking through. I actually bought a poncho to wear to cover it so this wont happen again. The bag is nice, roomy, and comfortable but I dont think I will ever buy from this brand again. I have never had a backpack that leaked so bad from a bit of rain. Very disappointed. ... show more
