  • Fantastic quality for a manual zoom and focus
I was skeptical, even after seeing the photos others sent. Color me surprised though. Let's face it: you're looking at this because you want to take lunar pictures. Maybe even planets! I'll say that I don't think this has *quite* enough zoom even on a crop frame to get a good picture of Saturn or Jupiter, but it does great for the moon and stationary terrestrial objects! I compared the results to the S23's zoom and it is night and day. If I wanted to spend a bit more time and effort, I could probably get nearly crystal clear images of the lunar surface, but even without seriously fiddling with the focus, it gives a significantly better image than the S23 and its witchcraft of cropping a 200mp image and using AI and extant images to fudge the results. It is a beast though. I'm 6' tall and even collapsed with the 2x adapter, it's longer than my forearm. That said, it's not heavy! A sub-$100 tripod will easily hold it up even with the attachment being on the camera body. Again, I have to make sure people understand: there is no autofocus, you zoom by literally pulling the lenses apart from each other, there is no image stabilization, and it absolutely needs the telescope mount. What do you expect for a $150 lens? That said, this thing is an amazing value. Go check for a 500mm lens right now. It's probably more expensive than this thing. Sure, your uses are going to be more limited especially as you learn to finesse the focus, but for the price, I don't think you're ever going to do better. Obviously these aren't Zeiss lenses, and you're going to have to live with correcting some chromatic aberration. That's to be expected. Even in my best lens, there's a tiny hint of it. If you're looking for a recommendation to get this lens, you've got one here. Just understand the limitations and you're good to go! ... show more

  • Surprisingly decent quality for a low price
First things first I am very disappointed that the tripod mount on the lens broke straight out of the box, its just cheap plastic and completely cracked the second I started to adjust it. Other than that this lens pleasantly surprised me. It is obviously manual focus with no stabilization and it definitely takes some taming but I've managed to get some decent pictures out of it on my first run. It's not super sharp even when perfectly in focus but for the price it honestly is not a bad deal. Like I said my only disappointment with it was the tripod mount breaking immediately. ... show more

  • Great price, amazing image
Got it working today, looks amazing, easy to use, so far with little effort have take high detail pictures of leaves of my neighbors tree with stunning detail for the price on a nikon d3400 which doesn't allow auto focus features unfortunately.

  • A Little Better than Expected
Bargain bin shopping can be an adventure and a bit like playing the lottery. Sometimes you miss, sometimes you do alright, and sometimes you get a hit. This is alright. It's not a hit; at the same time it's not a miss, either. It has the capability to take clear, sharp photos and does well. Everything is manual; there is no auto-focus or image stabilization. I use a tripod and wireless remote shutter to take photos with this. It's not a bad product and does alright for a hobbyist who can't afford a branded telephoto lens that costs hundreds or even thousands. ... show more

  • LOUSY
This lens was advertised to fit the camera (80D) and it did not! Fortunately, I had a friend that had a camera (Canon T7) that it DID fit, BUT IT DOESNT WORK at all! I am so disappointed. By the time I was able to try the lens and realize it did not work ... the return window had closed. It was a total waste of money! ... show more

  • Works with Canon Rebel T7
So I never do reviews, but I really wanted to clear things up, there are reviews stating this doesn't work with the rebel T7 WELL IT DOES WORK. I purchased this to give it a whir. I didn't want to spend a fortune. So i purchased this. Remember this is all manual no auto. It takes time to figure out the proper focus, but I just focused on another city's water tower from our house and the distance is 9.6 miles away so yes it works. So those of you that say it dosen't work, give it some time and don't give up and try. I purchased this mainly for our trips out west to spot out wildlife. I can't wait to take it and try it out. ... show more

  • Fun, but don't expect too much.
This is a good value, but I couldn't quite give it five stars for a few reasons: -The 'lock' pops off its threads too easily when tightened. It's necessary to be mindful of this while shooting. -The plastic nob on the mounting clamp was cracked and needed superglue on mine. -The f-stop is attached to the zoom. For example: 420mm = F8.3 and 800mm = F16. So, photos shot with a full zoom will never be super crisp since the f-stop is 16. I've attached a couple examples shot at 800mm while in focus (mostly). This is fun to play with if you can't afford a better 800mm telephoto lens (like yours truly), but don't expect too much from it. It's a $150 manual lens. ... show more
