This is a great system with lots of support. My specific application it worked ok but not quite as well as we'd like, but it was installed on a vessel at sea and in the end we needed a good Omni directional antenna which the kit didn't come with. But the seller sent us one free of charge so that was nice. I'd consider if your application needed one that you ask the seller for one before you buy. Also highly suggest getting the supporting apps, those were key to dialing in the system. Only reason I'm not doing 5 out of 5 stars is that I'm waiting on the Omni directional antenna and to see how that does for service. ... show more

    • Amazing with a caveat (or two)

First off, let me say that this is my experience with the unit, however it MAY be similar to experiences others have had. I watched A LOT of videos on this unit before I bought it. For my use - I live in a small cottage in the mountains where there is no cable internet, only cell phone and satellite - this thing is amazing. My carrier is Verizon and I can typically get maybe one or two bars of LTE outside. After installing the unit, I now get 4 solid bars of 5G, and it's FAST. Before the install, I had around 1 Mbps download and now I hang around the 30-40 Mbps range. Seriously, no joke here. So, here's the caveat for me: I only get that speed if my phone is within a foot of the internal antenna. Anything outside of that I'm really just at the same speed/connection I was before. At first, I would just move the antenna to wherever I was at - office, bed, etc. but that became annoying. As well as having to reconnect to my phone's hotspot every time I wanted to use my laptop or desktop. So, I got one of those MiFi jetpacks and I just plopped it down on the internal antenna and voila! I now have high-speed internet WiFi in my little cottage. Amazing! Second caveat for me: I had initially installed the antenna on the roof of the cottage, but my cottage is so small that I ran into a good deal of ISO feedback. Sooo, I installed the outdoor antenna on a tree about 20-30 feet from the cottage and ran the cable in the bathroom window, and put the internal antenna on the far side of the cottage. I still get an occasional ISO flicker but it's not alarming and/or doesn't seem to affect performance. My recommendation is to heed the advice of the manufacturer to have the distance between the indoor and outdoor antennas as far as possible. I had them too close at first and it seemed like the unit didn't work and I almost returned it. I'm SO glad I didn't! A couple of other things I did: I used the Signal Supervisor app and turned off two of the bands Verizon wasn't using - this definitely seems to increase performance for me. I also took the black tape that came with the unit an covered up green and blue lights - they are about as bright as a lighthouse at nighttime! And lastly, I think I tried every app out there to figure out where the closest cell tower was and what general direction I needed to point the outdoor antenna (they all seemed to give a different answer). Cellmapper gives you a pretty good idea but it wasn't intuitive for me. It's kind of cheesy but the EMF Towers app (iOS for me) pretty much nailed the exact angle and validated the Cellmapper data.     • It worked well after an effort to install it

There is probably no help for it, but this required finding a place on the roof to install it, purchasing a mast, and running a wire down the outside of the house to get to the basement room where the inside antenna was. Several complicated restrictions on antenna placement (both outside and in) made this more difficult to plan. And then snaking the wire thru part of the crawlspace and in the wall to get it to the unit and then the inside antenna was an effort. In all, it took several days and multiple trips to the big box home improvement store to get this done. However, it does work (after a software conniption that tech support solved) and our phones work most everywhere in the house, which we were led NOT to expect.     • It DOES work; but be prepared to do some experimenting

First off, it does work as advertised. The footprint of the enhanced reception was smaller than I hoped, but I understand the FCC limitations on the indoor antenna power output. Setup went fine. I got this in January, so I did a temporary installation without running cables or climbing onto the roof (I clamped a 10 foot 2 x 4 to a ladder to support the outdoor antenna). It took a number of repositioning tests to find a good signal. Signal bars went from 1 to 4, and the 5G indicator appeared. Both upload and download speeds increased by 500 to 600 percent. I then disassembled everything to wait for spring. One caveat I still don't know the answer to is how the leaves returning to the bare trees will impact reception. Once the weather warmed, it was time to install. I had two questions for HiBoost technical support: 1) Could I paint the interior (stark white) antenna to match the wall it was mounted on, and 2) Did the external antenna need grounding. Once I found the correct technical support person they were most helpful. Painting the antenna was not recommended. As for grounding the antenna, HiBoost engineering has not gotten back to me yet. My take on the grounding is to talk to your local building official or inspector to determine if your city or town has ordinances regarding the grounding of roof-mounted antennas I would buy this again, or recommend it to anyone needing a more reliable cell service. ... show more
