  • It will definitely improve your signal strength......
Color: 4k pro
I bought this a few years ago with the intention of taking my 4G LTE signal from 2 bars to 3+ in the house. Like many during the pandemic, I lived on my mobile for business while working from home and needed stable cell service. Things in my home were not terrible, and given other priorities, I waited to set it up. Enter 5G, and things went south with my Verizon service - so much so that I often was only seeing one bar of service, was dropping calls 4-5 times a week - and this despite living in Metro Atlanta and only 3 miles from a tower. The service has gotten that bad, and 3 hours with a level 2 tech at Verizon only got me the "well...there is a tower that's close, but there are a lot of trees in Atlanta.... ?#@&^$% - are you kidding? All while the rates keep going up. Further exploration led me to be told that the mobile companies are behind and haven't adjusted the signal priorities of the towers - which is leading to most consumers having poor signals and dropped calls. They just haven't gotten around to fixing it yet....that's a story for a different review.... So I took out the box, read the manual (a few times actually - worth the investment of time) and went about setting this up. My roof is steep and high, so I opted for a retractable flagpole that I could put where I needed it (securing it to the side of the house) , adjust easily and do all of the without walking around on the roof. So far so good. Went to fire up the signal supervisor app on my phone (IPhone 13 pro) and had trouble getting it to work. Called in to customer service twice, waited on hold a little (not too long actually) and was asked to leave a vm. Figured I would never hear back from them. But - later that evening - yes around 8 pm - I got a call back from a rep who was helpful and responsive. Left direct extension and said to call her back. Refreshing, actually. So went to figure it out the next day, still couldn't get it to work. so I went to the chat support function on the signal supervisor app to get a HiBoost person (I usually get bots and hate this manner of help) but got a person named Liam on the line who was great. Helped me walk through a few IPhone settings which got things going (***NOTE - check the settings on the IPhone to make sure that location services and or bluetooth permissions let the app connect to the central HIBoost transmitter box - that was what was causing me issues - and also that you have to connect pretty quickly once you turn phone on find bluetooth devices - I think the HiBoost connection window is about 30 seconds). Once I had this going, things fell into place. Liam stayed with me the whole time, helped me dial things in, and I got it working, pointed correctly and saw immediate improvement once it was configured. Overall, it took me from 1-2 to 2-3 bars, so while not magic, it did meaningfully help. And most importantly, I have not had a call drop since I installed this. So - am happy to say that it does what it says it will do and I really appreciate the enhanced stability. Hopefully, Verizon and the other carriers will get their act together soon so that this isn't as necessary, but for the immediate future, this is here to stay at my house. I gave the easy to install ranking 3 stars; it required more effort that I had hoped and the manual could be clearer, but in the end, I was able to get it going. Further, the tech support gets high marks - four stars was due to never being able to get a live person on the phone when I was in the middle of installation, but the chat support agent (Liam) not only helped me get things going, but periodically checked in after installation via text a few times later that week to make sure things were working as they should and offering help. Who does that these days? It was great.......I wish they had a connection to third party installers - I would gladly pay to have someone set this up, install on the roof, etc, - that would make things a whole lot smoother. But - it is workable for normal people if you are patient and ask for help if you need it. So - if you are thinking about it, I say buy it and go slow to get it working and dialed in. It made a big difference in my signal strength. The attached photos represent the signal strength before the HiBoost and after...... ... show more

  • This thing works! Don't waste your money on cheaper solutions, or more expensive ones.

I bought this as hurricane prep, because the last major hurricane we had roll through southwest Florida took out our cable internet for 4 months. Well Ian just rolled through, and here we go again! Rural living and there is barely cell service outside (like you need to go up on the roof and hold the phone above your head with your fingertips to send a text message). Normally we have gigabit cable and use WiFi calling and all is good. But when the cable goes down, especially for 4 months, it's carrier pigeons and smoke signals. I've purchased other boosters for half the cost of this one in the past, and ended up returning all. Often they only support one or two frequencies only, inside range is restricted to right next to the indoor antenna or the same room, and outdoor antenna aiming is a guessing game requiring a compass, Cellmapper app, and a steady hand. This device solves all those issues and I wish I had bought it earlier. The free app allows you to easily adjust the antenna and see the results in real time, even when up on a ladder away from the indoor unit, so there's no guessing. Perfect alignment in minutes. As you can see, my signal levels are barely in the acceptable minimum threshold for this unit to work, yet work it does, and very consistently and reliably. And compared to more expensive units, it automatically amplifies all the carriers simultaneously, instead of locking to a single one. And one of the biggest issues with repeater units like this, signal loopback, is essentially a non issue with this unit. It gives you a clear indicator light to warn of loopback until you get the placement right, and even indicates various degrees. It's the only unit I've found that will allow the average non-pro installer to get the most out of it and tune everything perfectly, and do so in minutes. Installation was an absolute breeze and all hardware and cables needed were in the box. Customer service is excellent, with instant answers from a live rep (even followup phone calls and a direct contact number, no automated prompts). You won't need it because it's so easy, but if you do, they are there and they'll contact you to make sure everything is good before you get a chance to contact them. For now I just threw this thing together after the hurricane, but I will be doing a proper permanent install soon. But ultimately, it's performance that matters. I went from no data (calls only) on Verizon to consistently over 50mbps 5G on barely any signal outside, and that's INSIDE my 2700 Sq ft home without even the secondary indoor antenna hooked up (just the main unit). And I went from sometimes (when I stand near a window) 1mbps T-Mobile 4g in the house to 15+ mbps 5G consistently. Both connections are now strong enough to make and hold a phone call from anywhere in the house, and can be used for data and hotspot in case of cable outage. And it improves the battery life on all my phones while they are home, since they don't have to work as hard to constantly hunt for a signal. And best of all, unlike WiFi calling or those cellspots that the carriers send you, it doesn't depend on home broadband to work, and it transitions active phone calls from tower to repeater and vice versa flawlessly and seamlessly without dropping the call, which is important if you live in an area where you have cell signal outside but not in and don't want to lose an active call every time you step into the house. If you live in the middle of nowhere, your city friends will be impressed that you have flawless 5G coverage inside your house and wonder how it's possible. Now keep in mind, you do have to have some sort of coverage outside for this thing to work. But at least in my case, I was able to mitigate that with altitude and essentially a clear line of site to the closest cell tower, even if it is out of range when at ground level. Only complaint I'd have is lack of band 71 600mhz. It seems no repeaters on the market support this. If it did, I could probably get away with T Mobile home internet as my primary and save a whole bunch of money while still enjoying blazing fast speeds. Get a good solid pole to mount it on (pole mount for outdoor antenna included), walk around with the outdoor antenna on the cable first while watching the app, and find that ideal spot. Mount it, and forget about it. It just works. ... show more
