This is an awesome product that presents an excellent value proposition as you get A LOT of high quality hardware for the price! A quick search on Amazon will yield the fact that similar cases alone, with no hardware included, will cost in excess of $15! So, for just a few dollars more, you’re getting a wide array of high quality files that come in enough sizes to tackle most any job! I am VERY happy with this purchase and knew that I made a good decision as soon as I opened up the package and felt the heft and subsequently got to see the quality first hand. I had the pleasure of trying a few of these files and they worked just as expected. They did the job and held up extremely well. Thus far, the carbon steel has held up well against both metal and plastic, so I’m certain that wood should in fact be no problem for these files. The included extras were just “icing on the cake” that added to the overall value, but they were not factored into my buying decision as I just wanted a solid set of high quality files that could easily tackle most hobby type tasks as well as being useful at home. Being retired, I thought that these would give me the most value for my hobbies. I believe that I was correct based on the handful of uses that I got from this set. I really couldn’t recommend it more! Ultimately, if you need a decent set of files with a case and plan on keeping it for a while, well, this set is truly a “no brainer!” ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I really needed a few medium grit files to compliment my existing set. Mainly, I needed a medium bastard, and a coarse round. This set had both. Seeing as buying each single file from Nicholson would have cost me 10-20$, this was a better fit. Overall, this set offers a lot. You get a reinforced nylon case to store the files in so they won't get banged up or broken. Far superior to the cheap vinyl cases that come with most file sets. You get the 4 most commonly used files: bastard, half-round, round, and triangle. Nearly all of the files are cross cut, except for one side of the large bastard, and one of the needle files. This is great for most work, as it removes a moderate amount of material. The needles are a bit finer. The overall quality is acceptable. The only issue I found was that the teeth on the half-round needle files was not 100% evenly spaced. This has no effect on the function of the files, and is just cosmetic. Make sure you maintain your files. Use a wire/nylon brush to clean them when they get loaded up. Only use them in the positive cutting direction (push them in the direction of the handle to the tip). ... show more

I needed a set of small files to do some specialized work. I searched and found these and they looked like something I needed. They arrived on the day they said it would, and the product was shipped very securely. I've tried out two of the files so far and found that they worked great and appear to be long lasting, depending on what you try to file of course. Seems like a cool kit. I don’t feel that the quality is really high when working on hardened material. All the file shapes are cool but I really only use a bastard file. Probably just should have used the money I paid for the kit and bought just one really nice bastard file
