I love this breastplate! It looks great on my horse, matches all my tack, and most importantly does its job! My saddle stays in place. I bought the horse sized one - I own a Percheron/Paint Cross who is about 16.1 and he's less Percheron-like than most crosses I've seen, but he does have a pretty thick crest. I would say the horse size is just right, but he does wear most of the attachments at the tightest hole possible...it could fit a much larger horse than him. I think the quality of the leather is amazing, the stitching is really well done. The metal is of good quality. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a 5-point breast plate. ... show more

    • Beautifully crafted piece but too small for my 16.3 horse. ☹️

This is a lovely breast collar. The leather is thick and has a nice weight to it, it's conditioned, but not overly so. I anticipate any break-in period will be minimal, and that the piece will soften further with a bit of use, cleaning, and conditioning within your normal tack cleaning regime. Stitching is finished nicely and well executed. The sheepskin pads are thick and appear made to last. Buckles work smoothly and are on par with the quality of the breast collar as a whole. This exceeded my expectations from a quality standpoint on every feature. Unfortunately, this came nowhere near fitting my horse. I'd read the reviews and took the complaints of this running large in stride (ha ha), as I'm fitting a 16.3 gaited horse. He's a bigger boy, but not gigantic, and doesn't pose the challenges regarding width that you might find fitting a draft X or a chunkier warmblood. Despite my optimism, I couldn't even get this in the ballpark, and was tremendously disappointed that it won't work. I contacted the lister to arrange an exchange for the next size up (they responded quickly), but was shocked to learn they don't offer this in a larger size. They ought to (!), especially given that this seems like a fairly common size for horse owners to need, with a corresponding market demand for the use intended. I boxed it up and returned it; Amazon refunded the purchase price literally the very nanosecond UPS scanned the package. I'm still disappointed that the fit was so small. This may have worked on a narrow 16.1 or 16.2 Thoroughbred, but I'm incredibly doubtful it would work on a beefy 16+ hh warmblood (drafts or draft X = just no.) ... show more

I love this breastcollar! The leather is so nice and supple right out of the box and the elastic is thick and stretchy. It clips to the d-rings and girth which makes putting it on so easy. I read the other reviews and decided to get the cob size for my 15.2 hh (normal shouldered) mare, and i’m so glad i did. It fits great on all the tightest holes, so if your horse is narrow-shouldered or smaller than my mare this breastcollar probably won’t fit. I would’ve given it 5 stars but the sizing could definitely be a problem for smaller horses, but if it fits your horse it’s amazing! ... show more

I’m giving this four stars because it’s amazing but has bad sizing. I bought a cob size for my 14.2 rescue gelding, but it was far too large. I was expecting it to be because I checked the sizing, but it ended up fine because on every single piece of this breast plate can have added holes. This is great quality I’ve had it since March 15th and only piled it once, about 3 days after getting it. I also want to add, this is very easy to add holes on every piece (like I said before) so even if it’s a little big you can make it fit, that is with a little bit of effort! And I just want to say, don’t worry about it, just buy it it’s amazing and if it doesn’t fit it’s easy to fix to your horses size. ... show more

Fantastic breastplate! I have a broad chested quarter horse and this breastplate fit him very nicely. It is made of great quality leather that is cushioned for over the neck so as not to rub the withers and is very easy to clean. I LOVE the clips for between the legs and for the two D-rings... makes putting on and taking off the breast plate so easy. The only thing I don't like is that the two side connections (to the saddle billets/girth) seem to be a little long and thus the elastic part is loose, even with punching in a couple of holes. As a result, there is quite a bit of extra leather that needs to get tucked away. However, I chalk this up more to my horse being weird shaped than manufacturing. Regardless, my saddle (and my derriere) are not going anywhere with this on, whether going Cross country, stadium, trail, or just training. The Running attachment also attaches via clip, which is quite convenient. ... show more

My Morgan is 15.1 and wears cob size. This breastplate running martingale combo is huge on him. Although I was able to alter the breastplate to fit, the running martingale attachment was still too large even when I put holes all the way down the leather straps.

Love this! It works great and looks expensive. My horse is an awkward size, usually somewhere between cob, pony, and horse. I ordered the cob and had to punch a few holes because it was just a little too big but it was easy and fits well. I think a size down would have been too small. She is about 15hh. Good quality but I’m disappointed in the size. I ordered the horse size for my 15.3 Half Arab who is slightly on the narrow side but even so he DROWNS in this thing. The straps that wrap around the billets are way to big and the piece that goes between his legs dangles down way to far to be safe. Looks like I will be punching holes and cutting off some excess leather. ... show more
