  • 3 Year review.
Style: 500 (Kit)
I mounted these two lights on the bumper about 18 inches apart centered and they are phenomenal. Being able to use these with the highbeams makes driving at night so much safer especially in dear country. Other reviews say they look and feel cheap, but that’s not a worry as long as you’re not beating on them too hard. They went through several hail and snow storms and there’s no signs of damage after 3 years. I would not consider these for off-road use, they’re more of a pencil beam for seeing a longer distance while driving. ... show more

Great lights. Not quite as bright as I anticipated but I can tell a big difference with them on along with the original fog lights and headlights. They shoot out a wide thin beam, great for seeing deer on the sides of the road but wouldn’t suggest for driving with oncoming traffic, it could impede their vision since the beam is so wide. They do leak pretty bad, currently they have water in them after the bad storms we’ve had recently. Would recommend taking them apart and sealing them before mounting. Also don’t pay attention to the complicated wiring instructions keep it simple and use the minimum amount of wires. I just used the blue directly from the lights and grounded them to the bull bar. ... show more

I'll give them 5 stars for the cool factor. I've only mounted them on my push bumper so far. In the description, it reads, come with relay and harness. I posted a question, and got mixed answers. Some did. Some did not. Mine did not. However, they did come with white plastic stone shields with the "HELLA" logo on it. I think they look great on my 24 year old truck. Definitely "old school". ... show more

  • Hella ValueFit 500 LED~ Hell Yeah 🤙🏼
Style: 500 LED (Kit)
I’ve been researching LED lights for my camper van for months. 2020 Dodge Promaster. The high end lights were crazy $$$, didn’t want to spend $600-$800 for two 6”-7” driving lights! Then buy wiring harness, no way. And most of what you find on here look fancy but are cheaply made and fail quickly. You get what you pay for. So I went old school, came down to the KC or Hella. I couldn’t be happier! Especially with the old school Hella. Product packaging was top notch, simple plug and play. Wire harness is solid, I’ve read other’s reviews about harness not being thick enough wire gauge. Seems to be right size and connections sealed. Wire harness length was perfect amount. Battery box along frame rail to front end. Only baby complaint I have is the oval switch, I wanted a round hole illuminated switch so I know power/lights are on. End result, for $200 out the door they are extremely well made product that should last a long time. Bonus they have running lights as well. Also bought the extra yellow lens for snow/dusty conditions. MelBorn 🤙🏼 ... show more

  • Easy install, nice to look at, not too bright
Style: 500FF (Kit)
I purchased these lights for my 2008 VW Rabbit, I'll review it in order of my overall experience with the product. Arrival/packaging: The lights came in packaged very well and secure, the box was easy to open and unpacking everything was easy and didn't leave styrofoam tidbits all over the place. Reviewing/understanding the instructions: The instructions I wouldn't say were worded in a way that was easy to understand, but it did come with a wiring diagram that I would say most simpletons like my self can decipher so I would say most people who have a little bit of common sense can figure it out without too much issue. Installation: I'll start by saying that everyone's experience will vary based on the mount points you choose to use and how you decide to manage wires. My car had a placard drilled to the front bumper from the dealership I purchased it from, so I removed my bumper to remove the placard which supplied me with pre-drilled holes, but I will say that my particular car's bumper removal process is a pain in the a%# even when you have the proper tools for it. The wiring is very basic, you have have one that goes to the battery, one that gets grounded, and one that goes to the switch, I would say the biggest challenge with the wiring is passing the switch wire through the firewall, and also mounting the switch, I opted to drill a hole right below my headlight dial-switch and it has worked out great. Overall I'd say despite your chosen mounting procedure, the installation is considerably easy once you have those details figured out. Brightness: This is where I'd say my expectations were not met. Like a lot of things in life, this is one of those things that you get what you pay for, and this is no different. I was hoping that this would work in conjunction with my normal head lights and give me a much better, if not superb, increase in night time visibility, but I find all they have done is widen the cone, which to a degree is nice because you can have an easier time seeing critters who are contemplating a scatter across the road. As nice as it is to be more mindful of local wildlife, that's not primarily why I purchased the lights, which seem to be washed out by my normal headlights/high beams. I would say that if you are expecting a 'night time rally stage' quality of brightness, then I'd encourage you to plan for, and buy, two or three sets of these lights, to hopefully come close to that kind of quality. Overall rating: Overall I'd say that while my hopes for brightness were not met, these lights have an aesthetic that is pleasing to look at, and have given my car a more rally spec appeal, and the color scheme coordinate perfectly with my car as well. I may in the future take my own advice and purchase more sets of these lights to hopefully get the brighter night time drive that I crave, but in hindsight, if I would have done a little more window shopping, or maybe put in the extra money for a light bar or a superior light of a similar style, I would've been happier the first time. ... show more

  • Perfect additioin to Polaris General 4
Style: 500 LED (Kit)
Been a Hella customer for 25 years. Quality of products are still the same high caliber after 25 years. I recently bought a Polaris General 4 and have been setting it up for my driving style. Needed additional lighting for nighttime trail riding. Decided to mount these on ther lower A-arms at the base of windshield. I proactivly bought the following mount in anticipation of these lights: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G2GQPFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Delivery of the lights took all but 2 days. Very impressed with packaging, simplicity of included hardware, quality of hardware (included Nylock nuts) etc. The lights themselvs are good quality aluminum. Perfect size at 6" and comes with sleek black stone shields. Initially, I was hoping for the white ones for an old school throwback look but once I saw the black shiny finish, I knew it was going to look great. I casually started putting everything together at the breakfast table while while babysitting my neice and nephew. Didnt want to take away any QT with the kids so I had them find the parts for me as I assembled the mounts. The A-arm mounts were lying around so I proactivly mounted those to the lights too. So far: 10 min invested. Kids and I headed down to the garage and mounting the lights to the A-arms took about 5 minutes. Things were going so smoothly, I sent my niece back upstairs to grab the harness. When she arrived back down to the garage, she had the harness but left the instructions upstairs. No instructions needed. This is straight forward with bomb proof QD connections everywhere. Only 2 wires to hook up to + and - with ring connections already crimpped on and heat shrinked. My Polaris General has a busbar with 6 ports. I was able to bypass using up a port and mounted the rings righht to the main + and -. Flick the swithch and kids cheered! Super bright LED's worked. This is a 3 way switch so if you flip it all the way down, the main LEDs go out and a small accent LED comes on giving just enough light to cut the dark for trailside repairs/cocktails/p-break etc. This was a nice unexpected modern feature. Time for wiring install: 10 minutes. 25 minutes total, casual install involving a 5 year old and an 8 year old without instructions. Seriously, a chimp could install these lights with successful results. I couldnt be happier. These are not $500 pencil beams. These are modern driving lights thatcast the same color as my Polasis's LED headlights but illuminate 2 - 3x as much and certainly wash over the periphels of the trail. Couldnt be happier with fit, function and expected quality. There's cheaper lights out there and certainly more expensive ones. For $135, it's not going to break the bank, your getting a quality name brand kit with a warranty. I'd pay $60 for the harness alone. It's that good. ... show more

  • They work but feel cheaply made
Style: 500FF (Kit)
Purchased these to put on my Toyota 4runner for some extra lighting on the trails. Wasn’t as impressed as I felt I should have been purchasing from a company that has been around for decades. The housing is a cheap plastic that I feel will crack and disintegrate in the desert heat. The bulbs get really hot while they are on making me worry about the housing being melted. I have concerns about water getting in the light housing due to the fact that the lens and plastic mold don’t seem to form a good seal. All in all the lights do still work when I need them to. I will most likely not replace them in the event they do stop working and go with a different brand. ... show more

  • Pretty good lights
Style: 500 (Kit)
So, I did my research before buying these things, so I had a little list of expectations when I went to use them for the first time. These lights are very good and actually performed better than I expected, although not as good as they could be. Lets start with shipping and packaging first. Shipping to me, felt like it was a day late, but Amazon actually expected it to be delivered on the day it was delivered, to I can't complain too much. Im used to deliveries showing up early, so this was a little surprising to me, but again, it wasn't actually late. The shipping box these lights come in are twice the size of the Hella box. I guess that is meant for vehicles planning to use a four-light set-up for offroading and need two sets of these lights. Regardless, I feel like they could have shipped in a smaller box for my one set, but again, not a complaint. Just an observation. The setup was pretty painless. The most frustrating part of the entire setup was trying to find a way to mount these lights on my '03 Subaru Legacy without drilling into the bumper. The wiring harness was very simple and probably could've been done without the use of the "instructions", which are horrible anyway. They give you a general diagram, and the text says "run leads", which is too general, and not helpful at all unless you look at the diagram. Yes, the colors are mentioned in the diagram, but if you are new to wiring, it is a lot of unnecessary piecing together to understand it. *Also, side note while im talking about wiring - When you install these lights, DO NOT attach the ground wires to your negative battery terminal. You'll most likely blow a fuse, especially if you have your lights on when you start your car. There are probably some of you who have this set-up and it works just fine, but I strongly advise new buyers to ground to the chassis. I did and popped my chassis a little already, which is good, because I would've blown a fuse if I were hooked into my negative terminal. Back to set-up. They provide more wire than you need, except in the 12v red wire, which I had to add my own length, but no big deal. It's in part to me mounting the relay on my passenger side. I also wired my lights without a switch directly into the high beams (by connecting the yellow cable that was supposed to go to the switch directly to my high beam wire in my passenger side light) and it works without flaw. Actually adjusting the lights is pretty painless. Just some nuts and bolts. The lights stay pretty tight, but can still be moved with quite a bit of force. This is a plus for me because I like to adjust my lights on the road so I can get the perfect beam to suit me. The lights themself are the Hella H3 standard bulbs. They are yellowish and a little underwhelming, but im sure replacing them with Silverstar bulbs will fix that problem right away. My only concern is one of the lights fogged up when it got extremely humid, so the seal wasn't completely perfect, but its alright. It cleared up, and the other light was fine. And it was obnoxiously humid. I might change the seal in it one day, but im not that worried at the moment. Overall, great lights! ... show more

  • Hella is still the king of 'Bang for your buck' lighting
Style: 700FF (Kit)
I have used Hella lighting for years. I have Rallye 4000 Fogs and Pencil beam for offroad use. I have 500 fogs for legal highway use. For the price, I was thrilled to try out these Hella 700FF series. Quality is very good for the money. Lighting technology has come a long way (with LED) so keep in mind that these are old school halogens in a reflector housing. Very good distance and a fairly focused beam. Not for highway use as they will blind oncoming traffic. I would buy these again and use on my racecar for night racing since they light up far enough down the road that I doubt I could over-drive the lighting. I ended up not keeping these, through no fault of their own. I was intending on using them in my Aluminess bumper which has 7.5" light cutouts. These technically fit, but would have required significant modifying to my bumper or a custom bracket to mount them. ... show more

  • Great purchase compared to less expensive harness w/o pigtails
Style: HVF Wiring Harness (2 light)
What I liked: 1. Solid crimping at terminal ends 2. good quality material 3. Harness comes with a red backlit on/off switch (not pictured on this listing) 4. Harness was long enough to install unde the hood of my ‘02 Ram 1500 Van. What I did not like: 1.The color coding on the wiring to the on/off switch has blue as the power line 2.The wiring for each light runs back to the relay. Would I buy this again? It depends. Well worth the price for a harness that includes pigtails. AutoZone sells each pigtail for $6+tax. If I wanted to install the relay and fuse under the dash, then I would probably buy another harness that has a splitter between the relay and the lights. That way you only run two wires through your firewall as opposed to four. Side Notes: I found a harness that was ~$10 cheaper that was identical to this one BUT WITHOUT THE PIGTAILS (good option for those wanting to use OEM pigtails) and Harbor Freight cable clamps helped make the installation look decent. ... show more
