  • Pants need bjj suspenders
Let me first say, the Kimono is Five Stars all damn day. It doesn't go straight up your armpit like most bjj kimonos go. Once worn a few times its just better and better. I got a size up to have it actually shrink to size and have a little more room. Absolutely a great kimono. The pants are and will be your worst problem. Dont get me wrong, the weight, fit, feel and looks are spectacular. BUT, for some reason, no matter what you wear underneath and no matter how tight I tie the drawstring these manage to slip down your backside. I also use this Gi for Karate as I like a heavier than cotton weight and its still perfect for summer useage. This isn't too heavy and it breathes well. Five stars for comfort, fit and durability. It also doesn't shrink too much (I accidentally put it in the dryer on warm tumble) or fade/lose stitching. I'd pay the 99$ just for the kimono personally as its non restrictive and doesn't choke your pits to death. I just wish they would focus on the ride of the pants and their mobility. ... show more

  • Falling Apart at All Seams Updated
Update: Amazon replaced the Gi. It seems to be holding up better now than before. Original: First off, I want to say that the feel and style of the Gi is amazing. I would have given it a 5 if that were considered only. However, after rolling in this Gi no more than 5 times ( with 1 cold/cold wash with hang dry), literally every single seem across the entirety of both pieces is either loose or has completely started to come apart. Having paid $130 for a Gi which, in less than a week of use, has already started falling apart is completely unacceptable. I paid 50$ for my Venum Gi whose seams are in better shape now, after a year of use, than my brand new Hayabusa. While I would love this Gi if this wasn't happening, I won't be buying another Hayabusa in the future. Hugely disappointed. ... show more

  • Another nice-looking, well-made Hayabusa gi! But runs a little small.
I bought this Hayabusa gi as a follow-up to the heavier Goorudo 3.0 gi. This is significantly lighter, but very well made. Earlier in the year I had ordered the Goorudo gi in an A3 and had incorrectly assumed the sizing would be similar for this gi. It ended up being too small in both the sleeves and pant length by quite a bit. I ended up returning it and ordering an A4 which, of course, was too large but I was able to throw it in the dryer and now it fits perfectly (I'm 6'0" and 195 lbs). All my other gis are A3, but I have to hang dry all of them, so it's actually nice that I can throw this one in the dryer after washing. I'm going to have a hard time trying out new brands of gis because Hayabusa made me so darn happy with the two that I own. My other 4 gis from different brands simply aren't as nice (and two of them were more expensive than the Goorudo). I honestly don't think you can go wrong making this purchase. ... show more

  • Good quality, feels nice
Size: 2 Color: White
This is a very good gi for the price; in all fairness, I did not try that many different brands but this one seems just right. Below are two things that I thought would be helpful for any others that are interested. 1. I am 5ft 11, 185lbs. The size chart recommended A2 and I went with that recommendation. The pants are OK, maybe if they were tapered they would be even better, but they fit me good. However, the gi top is somewhat large and the sleeves a bit long; I think it will get shrunk in time if I machine dry it a few times. This may not be a big deal for me, but it is worth to mention. 2. I ordered the white one and the top is NOT the same color as the bottom! The top is a bright white (with a subtle blue nuance) and the pants are yellowish. I think it would have been great if they were the same color. This gi does not come with a belt but for me, it was not a deal-breaker. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase, I will see how it will stand the test of time and if necessary I will come back and update the review. ... show more

  • Great gi. No shrinkage after wash and dry.
Great summer weight gi. The jacket is extremely soft and comfortable. Not stiff like my other gis. I am 5'9" 155 and the A1 is a good fit. Appropriate length in the sleeves and pants. Skirt is a little shorter than expected but not short enough to be an issue. Slightly slimmer cut than average. After being washed on hot and machine dried several times the pants had zero shrinkage and the jacket had very very mnimal shrinkage. If you're like me and hang-drying isn't an option, this gi is great. No need to size up. Random side note: this gi is very very white. Whiter than my other gis. Like the difference of looking at something under an incandescent bulb vs a daylight bulb. ... show more

  • Light and soft but at the expense of fabric quality
Size: A4 Color: Grey
I'm quite disappointed in the quality of the fabric. It feels cheap and poor quality. I lift the jacket up and I see light coming through the poorly tightened threads. There are missed threads here and there as well. I have some light gis in the same price range where the fabric feels so much more solid and dense (like the Inverted Gear for example). I don't expect the light gis to last very long (there is always a compromise between weight and durability) but I expect this one to fall apart much sooner than others. I do like the pants though. They are much better quality than the top. What needs to be pointed out is the weird sizing. I'm A3 in EVERY other brand (and I own many gis) but this A4 is on the edge of being just right. If I'd ever wash it in warm water by accident I'd most likely have to retire it. ... show more

  • Hayabusa needs to stop messing around and release half sizes.
5'9 and change, about 140lbs, muscular, no fat on me. Built like.. You know... Helio? The guy that invented the modern sport by tailoring it for guys built like him. Skinny. But for some reason Hayabusa only makes gis for guys built like a shit brick house. If you're not wide as a barn door, just go for a brand with half sizes. I'm usually an A1L, I own A2s, and went with the A1 on this one. Pants are a little short, but too wide. Same with the top. I always wanted a Hayabusa gi, and decided to finally pull the trigger. It's durable as hell, very well constructed, and will definitely stand the test of time. A little heavy, but stays surprisingly dry and cool. They know what they're doing, but it pisses me off that my most expensive gi fits the worst, even though I followed their sizing instructions. If I could return it, I would. If anyone from the company is reading this, you guys suck. Just make half sizes. ... show more
