I ordered three different rain boots for my 5-year-old daughter to try on. All different brands, same size. Initially she wanted a patterned pair with unicorns or rainbows but when she put the pink Hatley rain boots on, she said they fit her so much better and wanted to keep them. The other brands seemed to pinch in the ankle area but these just fit her better. She is a size 13 in her tennis shoes, soccer shoes, ballet shoes and cowgirl boots but this size 13 were a bit large. I had her wear thick socks to help keep the boots from slipping off and that seemed to do the trick. I don't mind that them being a tad larger because that just means she might be able to wear these now and hopefully later in the fall if we get any additional rain. CAUTION if you are OCD like myself. The pink boots show scuff marks that don’t wipe off easily. I’ve found using a stain remover and a scrub brush is the only way to get those marks off. I have to do this every time she wears them otherwise, they look filthy. After each scrub down, they look brand new again but not without effort on my part. ... show more

I'm a huge fan of Hatley. I discovered this brand buying my kids raincoats last year. They were AWESOME. In fact, my kids are still wearing those rain coats a year and a half later and they look brand new. And they have the cutest designs ever. So this year I bought my daughter a couple of pairs of rain boots and another matching raincoat for the fall. She doesn't even really need it, but we like to splash in muddy puddles and stomp around in rain year round- so we like boots. And these were so cute I couldn't stand it. Quality of construction is very high on Hatley products- and I am very, very picky. The boots are sturdy and well made and the coats are impeccable- high quality fabrics, good fit, zippers that don't stick and a nice warm liner for those chilly fall, early spring, or not quite too cold and snowy winter days. A bit too warm for a summer rain storm, so for that I just got them a lightweight rain shell. I really like these boots, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them- but if you are in the market for a raincoat that's where this company really shines. My daughter loves these. N by that I mean she's been prancing around the house with an opened umbrella pretending it's raining. My roof does not leak, fyi. She just can't wait for the first major rainfall. As for durability, going by eyesore, it looks decently durable. Probably as good as hunters.
