I recommend this product and would buy it again. I got it in white. The only thing I feel bad about is that the first shipment came with the server broken. The packaging seemed lacking for handling by UPS. I returned the product and was expecting that the next shipment would also arrive broken, but it was fine. The media could not be loaded. I have, at last count, eight different devices in my home for the preparation of coffee. The Hario is my standard if I'm evaluating a new selection of coffee beans, particularly if they're a lighter roast of a special single-origin bean. (The Peruvian Geisha that my friends brought back from Lima, for example, went into the Hario.) The quick drawdown of the Hario -- a function of the ridges inside the cone and the thin filter paper -- means that it's difficult to overextract your coffee, even at a fairly fine grind. This contributes to a reduction in the bitter notes that you can get in automatic drip coffeemakers. I bought the 02 size, which brews up about 600ml of coffee at one go; for me, this is enough to pour myself a single cup to drink right now, and fills up my insulated stainless mug to keep it hot for later. (As with the Chemex, the borosilicate glass used for the Hario does a great job of resisting thermal shock during brewing, but is a poor insulator). In fact, that's about the only negative I can think of for the Hario: if you brew two cups at a time (which is easy), you need some way to keep the second cup hot while you drink the first. Not a problem if you're sharing, of course, but that's true with nearly any coffee maker. (My Bialetti Moka Express is about the only exception, as the hot aluminum keeps it piping hot through the last cup I pour.) But if you decant into a thermal carafe or into an insulated travel mug, this is a non-issue. Last thing: lots of pour over enthusiasts are looking for portability. If that includes you, the metal or plastic Hario cones are your best bet. I opted for the white ceramic cone because I only use this at home, and I love the feel of the high quality ceramic. If I was looking for something to stuff in a backpack or an overhead bin, I'd pick the plastic. ... show more
