All lumber from your box will be kiln dried. You will receive a mix of species in each box. We will guarantee at least 3 species but will strive for greater variety. The species will range from Walnut, Red Oak, White Oak, Cherry, Birch, Soft Maple Hard Maple, Hickory, Cherry, Ash, Butternut and Red Grandis. My box arrived early and was completely full, with 18 pieces of wood 12 inches long and ranging from 2-7/8 to 8-7/8 inches in width. All the pieces were sanded on four sides. Although unlabelled, I think they represent eight different species. One piece had part of a knothole visible at the end of one side, otherwise there were no defects. Great idea for those us us that enjoy smaller wood working projects. So far I have had 3 box's from multiple sellers. Most of the wood is in a workable condition out of the box with a few needing to be plained as they were a little ruff. One thing to be aware of is the seller Amazon picks to use when you buy. Some sellers meet the listing to a t with helpfull sheets telling you what wood you may have received along with some information on each species and labels attached to each board. Others just seem to pile the required amount of wood into the box and send it out. So I would try a few sellers to see which one you prefer. My first order, most pieces are shorter than 12 inch and there are a few pieces that are low quality. I returned it. The 2nd order, out of the whole box, only 3 pieces are under 12 inch. Also, there are no bad pieces so I am happy about it. I got a few pieces of diff wood.

Second time purchase and the first box was very good. This box was fully loaded with beautiful hardwoods. Several finished on 4 sides and sized equally. Picture frames, children’s puzzle blocks and games and so many creative ways to use this well done purchase. Thank you!

I’ve bought this 4 times. First time I got an awesome selection. But it’s been downhill since then. I’ve gotten cupped boards cracked boards. Boards that are like 2” when description says 5”. Also description guarantees defect free boards. It wouldn’t be a problem if the description was correct but don’t false advertise. The boxes are always chock full of poplar. I think between the last 3 boxes at least a full box worth was poplar. Also the wood not being labeled is quite frustrating. I mean oak poplar and walnut are pretty easy to identify but cherry maple hickory birch can all look pretty similar. Update the description to be accurate, actually give defect free boards and label them and it would be 5/5. Maybe a little less poplar too. ... show more

Nice boards in general. Had some maple, some cherry, some walnut. A few with nice grain patterns. All were quality though, no significant defects. Will purchase again.
