These were a reorder for me. They were completely different from what I ordered previously (different shape, different name style on the waistband), and also didn't look like the picture. Apparently Hanes changed the style yet again. The label said Hanes Ultimate, so it doesn't look like I got the wrong item by mistake. Later: I waited a month and reordered these. What was sent was also not as I ordered previously nor as pictured. It is also not as pictured on the Hanes website. This time I took more care to examine the differences. The lettering on the waistband is different. The elastic is much weaker. The cut and shape are different. The fly is cut differently. I am attaching photos to make this more clear. I eventually ordered these directly from Hanes, and what I received was like the picture and very close to what I had previously (though the fit is a little larger.) It seems the seller is sending the wrong item, not that Hanes has changed the product much. ... show more

Gigantic leg openings with a long narrow crotch - almost as if they were designed for a woman. This is the exact reason why I switched over from FOTL, which used to fit perfectly till they 're-sized' them. Hanes are pretty much just as unwearable. Do underwear manufacturers not see how this is a problem? They offer very little support if any, which is the exact reason why one would wear briefs. They do not form a pocket and since the leg openings are so huge, my balls are either spilling out or my scrotum sticks to the side of my legs. I am constantly having to fix myself and if i pull up the back so it keeps my front parts in place my buttcheeks hang out the back! Ridiculous! ... show more

They fit well. but over time the price of Hanes underwear seems to keep going up while the quality keeps going down. I mean, they're underwear and they do the job that underwear is supposed to do, but they are thinner material and wear out faster than they used to. They are just thin and get random holes in them. They also don't retain their shape as well as they used to. In addition, the material at the legs now tends to wear thin - exposing the elastic - causing angry-looking red marks on my son's skin. These were purchased for my son, but I've bought larger Hanes for my husband in the past. My husband got so fed up with the lower quality that he told me not to bother getting any for him. He says he's changing from briefs to boxers. He's threatened to to go commando if the boxers end up being cheap quality. Come on... none of us want that! Please, please, please go back to making a quality product, so that our 47 year old husbands will not boycott underwear! ... show more

    • Elastic wears out within months making these Hanes underwear unwearable

I've purchased Hanes briefs for 40 years; historically I wouldn't wear anything else (hated Fruit of the Loom or Jockey growing up). Hanes used to be great. They looked great, fit great and lasted a long time. No problems. However, since 2013 I've purchased 4 packages (some large packages) because, within months, the elastic in the waistband (and to a lesser extent around the leg openings) wears out. It's almost like they designed them to wear out in 2-3 months! It's a shame because the rest of the underwear is fine; but the elastic in the waist stretches out to almost twice the size and...they fall down. It's almost like going commando in your pants. If I'm in the bedroom wearing just the underwear and walk to the bathroom they literally fall down to my ankle if I don't hold them up. I've written 2 letters and sent emails to Hanes customer service and even the CEO of the company. Not even the courtesy of a response. Hanes, pay attention to all these reviews; they are almost all poor reviews. If you are outsourcing your manufacturing or elastic; find a better supplier or you will go from an American icon to...out of business. I'm not buying Hanes any more and will tell everybody I can they shouldn't either. Don't waste your money. ... show more

In over 40 plus years of buying my own underwear, these rank as the worst ever. Don’t buy them! Let’s think a minute....why do you need underwear, especially briefs? Well, how about for support? You know what I’m talking about guys. Well, these offer NONE of that. The “under” part of these briefs lets everything hang out. They are so narrow, don’t fit properly, and are worse than going commando. At least with commando you don’t have that annoying waistband rolling over to irritate you. There is not one single redeeming quality about these thing. I have better made rags in my garage than these. Hanes’ slogan is/was “Hanes makes you feel good all under”. Nothing could be further from the truth. Don’t. Just don’t. ... show more

These are my go-to briefs normally. Ordered two packs recently, washed them gently in cold water, and didn't wear them for a few months due to hot weather. Once things started to cool down, went to my drawer for a pair, and noticed that the elastic had turned to dust in every single pair. Not sure what's going on here. Going to take a break for a while and stick with Hanes boxers. Hoping this was just a fluke and a not indicative of poor overall materials now. ... show more
