Okay I have had to have a couple of these units. First of all the one I originally got from Amazon had leaked from the bottom and clean water not coffee. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired since the only way to contact them is either by filling out a form on their website or by sending them an email. They don't give any reason for not having a live customer service phone number with staff to answer your questions in real time. But, I figure they like a lot of other companies are probably using kovid as a crutch. That being said. I was able to get a replacement unit to replace the one that was leaking. Not to long ago I had experienced a issue where the front display stopped working and only the power light would turn on. I don't think I would recommend this product unless you are okay with a company that doesn't have as good of customer service. All of the negative stuff aside the machine while it was working as expected did brew a very nice cup of coffee and was easy to set up. Although I didn't care to much for how you had to scan a qr code to get it to work with your alexa. ... show more

  • PLEASE Pay Attention To The Bad Reviews!
I'm what you might call a technophile. My house is wired and automated everywhere. So of course my spouse bought this for me as it was the perfect gift. I loved it. I ignored "the haters" who complained of weird issues as just being non technical or one offs. I was SO wrong. Let me tell you about the Hamilton Beach Alexa Coffee Maker Death Spiral. Once it starts happening to you, your coffee maker is doomed. It starts with a random message to clean your unit. At least that's how mine started. No problem, I cleaned it exactly according to HB specifications. But then it took a couple tries to turn it on after. Then the "Clean" message wouldn't go away. OK reset the maker by unplug and replug after 30 seconds. But then the screen was blinking rapidly like it had a short. The wifi wouldn't connect. Spent about 45 minutes getting the wifi connected and set it up in Alexa again, prepped it for coffee in the morning and went to bed. That worked for one day. The next night, no wifi again. I again had to reset the coffee maker as the lights were blinking rapidly but not responding to button presses. After working on it, trying things, cursing at it, pleading, lighting black candles and sacrificing a goat, I finally got it set up and went to bed. The next morning, I asked Alexa to make my coffee before I got out of bed as I usually do. She responded effectively "what coffee maker?" Yup, it was offline again. Blinking rapidly again and no amount of button smashing was gonna do it. Defeated, I pushed brew. Nothing. Pushed again. Nothing. Pushed and hold. Coffee pot "oh fine, I'll make you one FINAL POT of coffee but that's it" And it meant it. Literally hasn't worked since. That's the HB Alexa Coffee Maker Death spiral. Other people who complained about it. I'm sorry. I misjudged you. You tried to warn me. OK but RA, you say, I can just call HB customer service! NOPE. They don't answer their customer service calls anymore. You're directed to a web page to fill out a form. You get a typical auto response and then wait A WEEK for a reply. My reply was to tell me that because my coffee pot was purchased 1 year and 2 months ago, it wasn't under warranty. So here is a 15% coupon to purchase another one ONLY from the HB website. Amazon is selling it for 18% off BTW. That's it. That's all they'll do. Sell you a coffee pot with an OBVIOUS DEFECT and give you a garbage discount to buy it again a year later. Don't buy this. Look I KNOW my techie people are really wanting to and I get you but don't do it unless you're ready to tear it apart to fix what I'm assuming is a glitch in the firmware. Or planned obsolescence. Either way, stick to programmable coffee makers until a good one comes out from a company that will actually support their products!! EDIT: It looks like it might be a hardware defect with some circuits on the board. I haven't taken mine apart to verify yet, but images are circulating of boards with scorch marks and blown capacitors. Will update with images once I get into my own. ... show more

  • The "Boomers" Dream!
I love it, Lay in bed in the morning yelling, "Alexa, turn on my coffee" and she listens to me and does as I say. Life doesn't get much better than that. No more waiting for my coffee to brew. Done by the time I get to the kitchen. Have to give Hamilton Beach A MILLION STARS for service. Get this for Christmas, could not get it to hook up to our network. Sent them an email on Christmas day. The next day they were on the phone trying to help us out. Still could not work but for a week they made many calls to us, emails to try to fix the problem. Even shipped us another coffee pot to see if ours was broken. Still would not work. I received a call from them the first of the year. It was two of their engineers that were in Vegas (where we live) for the Consumer Electronics Show. They asked if they could come to our house to figure out the problem. An hour later they were at our home checking out the problem. The problem was our new Samsung Phones would not function correctly with this coffee pot. We used another phone and hooked it right up and all is great. They even had meetings with Amazon to work on the problem with the new phones. Never seen a big company go so far out of their way to make things right for a coffee pot. I can't say enough great things about this positive experience with them. ... show more
