  • Makes good coffee
Size: Single-Serve Color: Black,Silver Pattern Name: Coffee Maker
Makes a good cup of coffee, maximum of 14 ounces. I have made coffee from K-cups and the included loose coffee pod. Both methods were acceptable with K-cups better than the loose coffee pod. I have made hot chocolate (Swiss Miss) which was also very good. I have yet to make tea. The only thing that disappoints is the elevated cup holder for coffee cups as opposed to tall travel cups is also intended for storage of the loose coffee pod. This is too small to hold the loose coffee pod without rocking and I hate that. I have resolved this problem by removing the offending pod and placing in my canister of loose coffee. This is a definciency that I can live with and I would buy the Hamilton Beach single serve coffee machine again. ... show more

  • I LIKE THAT IT CAN BREW FROM PODS OR GROUNDS
Size: Single-Serve Color: Red Pattern Name: Coffee Maker
Likes: it can brew from k-pods AND ground coffee; can accommodate larger mugs/thermoses for up to 14 oz size; it's RED (I wanted a red coffee pot); very reasonably priced. Dislikes: would be nice to have a removable water reservoir so you don't have to refill for every cup; slower to brew per cup than other more expensive single-serve coffee makers; larger foot-print than many other single-serve coffee makers. Summary: the dislikes were not deal-breakers for me. Maybe you don't want this if you entertain a lot and everyone wants coffee. As far as reliability, I will update this post if that status changes. ... show more

  • It has outlasted my Keurig
Size: Single-Serve Color: Black - Fast Brewing Pattern Name: Coffee Maker
This coffee maker is pretty decent. It takes a long time to heat the water, and I don’t like that it has no reservoir- you just pour in the amount of water you want for a single cup - but on the bright side I’ve been using it at work for about six months and it’s still going strong. Compared to Keurig machines, that’s impressive. I had to throw away 3 of them in a single year, one of which died while brewing its very first cup of coffee. So if this machine lasts a year or more it will probably be my go to travel option, as it’s cheap to replace. As for the coffee, it’s just right. ... show more

  • Great for RV
Size: Single-Serve Color: Black,Silver Pattern Name: Coffee Maker
I looked at this kind of coffee maker for a while before buying this one. My wife and I live in a travel trailer full-time going from New Bern, NC to Palm Springs, CA over about 6 months. I had some pretty specific requirements, that many people also share, but a few specific to using this in an RV. 1. Size - This thing looks and sounds like it hardly takes any space on your counter. Not quite. It's really not that much smaller than a typical coffee pot. Definitely a lot bigger than the K-brand tiny ones. I think the other features this one offers make it little extra size worth it though. 2. Flavor - I'm not a person who understands 100 different nuances of coffee. I like coffee, I drink it black and I like it to taste good. This pot hits all my requirements. It makes a decently dark cup of coffee and it does it consistently. 3. Brew Amount - A lot of this type of coffee maker have a button you hit to brew one size of cup or another size. Reading reviews of them, the amounts that come out vary a lot, meaning they brew on a timer. That seems stupid to me. This coffee maker has a reservoir you put water in. You hit the button, it brews until it runs out of water. If your favorite coffee cup is 6oz and you want to have a 6oz cup of coffee, you put 6oz of water in and you get a 6oz cup of coffee back. My favorite cups happen to be in the 15-16oz range. The reservoir has a 14 oz display on the side of it so I end up over-filling it. And guess what? It brews until it runs out of water, even if it's a little too much for the reservoir. Novel concept, I now. 4. Power Draw - Being in an RV you have a big plug you hook up when you park. In a house you tend to take for granted that you can just plug shit in and it works. In an RV, you have 30 amps. Period. (at least in my RV. I know, some are 50 amp. Good for you if you have a 50 amp. I don't and the problem is similar.) Anyway, this coffee maker draws about 9 amps when it's heating the water up. That's almost 1/3 of my total. So, when it's 30 degrees outside and I'm running the electric fireplace, making a cup of coffee and the wife tries to heat something up in the microwave, the surge suppressor kicks off because the three together draw too much power. Anyway, it only take about 2 or 3 minutes to brew a cup, so if you can manage to not use the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes, it's a non-issue. 5. Versatility - You can use K-Cups, some other sort of cup, or use the little basket that lets you use ground coffee. I have never tried and of the cups because, well, I'm cheap and I don't like all the trash that goes along with the little cups. The basket that comes with this works great. The only thing I'm not super crazy about is cleaning it. 6. Cleaning - Since I use the little fresh coffee basket, I have to take it out, bang it on the side of the trash can and rinse it out every time I want to make a cup of coffee. Really not a big deal. I'm just lazy that way. At the end of the day, it's just what I have to do to get the cup of coffee I want, so it's really not a deal breaker. Just something to keep in mind in case it is for you. All in all, this is a great coffee maker. Highly recommend it if you're anything like me. ... show more

  • Always Dependable…Except for the Power Button
Size: Single-Serve Color: Black - Fast Brewing Pattern Name: Coffee Maker
We use the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew in our home and we love it. So we decided to buy this one for our RV. It’s small and it will take the coffee pods or ground coffee. We prefer the pods. Our mugs are jumbo size so this brews the amount we pour in; although the maker says 14oz I believe we use a bit more. The only problem I have with this is the power button. On the lower right side (your right while looking at it) the brew designation, which is more like a plastic elongated oval with the words Bold and Reg printed on it, sit flush with the rest of the molded plastic housing unit. The problem is, I have to find the right spot on that piece to be able to start the brew process. The circle with the word Regular is offset so when I think I am going to push the center of the circle to start it I end up having to slide my finger around the entire area near that circle to find the spot to turn it on. That is frustrating when it’s habit and expected to be able to push the designated spot and turn on the coffee maker. That is my reason for the four stars. Other than that, I’ll live with it since it’s only a seasonal use item. But the coffee comes out hot, it’s a small size unit for small areas and I like being able to brew up to 14 oz. ... show more

  • Way better than Keurig's machine!
Size: Single-Serve Color: Black,Silver Pattern Name: Coffee Maker
This single-serve Hamilton Beach coffee maker kicks Keurig's butt! I recently purchased a Keurig K-Mini Single Serve machine from Target, and—even though it cost me almost $80—it felt cheap and flimsy and the coffee came out watery. The Hamilton Beach machine has much more solid construction, the locking mechanism is high-quality and durable, and brews are much stronger. I especially love using the "Brew Bold" button for stronger coffee. The reusable coffee pod they include for freshly-ground coffee is also well constructed and helps to reduce waste since you don't have to use plastic cups each time. This is a great product and I'm very glad I purchased one! ... show more
