    • Dimming does not work with LED string lights
I installed this HALO Home in-wall dimmer (non-smart lights version) to control a string of DIMMABLE LED lights from Brimax (also purchased from Amazon). The string lights come on but they are either at 100% or 0%. In other words, dimming does not work. Also, you have to be very close to the dimmer switch in order for the App to work. This surprised me because I have a network of four Halo Home Smart LED outdoor spotlights that are supposed to be part of the same Bluetooth mesh network as this dimmer switch. So if I'm close to ANY of the lights I should be able to control this dimmer switch via the Halo Home App. Unfortunately, this does not seem to work as claimed. *** Updating April 2019 So I uninstalled the Halo Home in-Wall Start Dimmer because it did not work even with bulbs certified as "dimmable". Then I tried to delete the Dimmer from the Halo Home App. There is no way to delete it. I went to the Eaton website and found their instructions on how to delete a device in the Halo Home app and the App is different from their instructions. There is not "delete" button where they say it should be. Worse, I've tried to call Eaton technical support but they no longer list a phone number on their website. They have a FAQ page only. Googling does not help. I think they must have realized their product is so troublesome they've been getting too many phone calls. Eaton's solution? Do tell anybody the phone number! This is a really crappy product with a company that provides no technical support. I recommend buying something else. ... show more

    • The app for this doesn't work
I love this dimmer, as far as how it works with my new Halo LED lights, but the bluetooth app you download for your smartphone doesn't work. It will not even let me register the app. This is pretty embarrassing for Halo, and makes them look pretty bad. I spent $300+ on their lights partly on the ability to use their app and this is hugely disappointing. ... show more

    • This switch makes a buzzing sound
I tried to use this for controlling dimable leds BR40. The switch makes a buzzing sound when lights are on. I had bought several of these, so I tried swapping the switch by two other switches of the exact same model, all made the same buzzing sound. I did an internet search and found a forum where many ppl were talking about this problem with this specific switch, apparently the solution is to try with different bulbs until you find one that does not make the switch buzz. We bought this product to be able to turn on/off & schedule our lights on our front door. What we really liked about it is that with the bluetooth we can connect directly to the dimmer from our phone without connecting it to our wifi. Install was pretty easy, but note that it requires a neutral wire to work. It was easy to setup the schedule we wanted on the device and have it working. Another nice feature is we can expand one product at a time and connect them all together with downlights, light bulbs and flood lights and can work with Alexa if we add the internet bridge. ... show more

    • Setup was great, dimming not so much
The installation and app setup was easy and straightforward. Unfortunately this dimmer would not dim two different sets of dimmable LEDs that I have been using with non-smart dimmers. The dimmer did work fine once I put at least one incandescent bulb in the circuit.

    • Pretty good.
For regular switches it is easy to install. It connected easily to the app. Not easy to set up if you have a three way switch. The app could use some improvement (like being able to delete a device), but is pretty good. I am also using it for some HALO recessed lights. The biggest con for me is only one color option. I am considering returning it because it doesn’t match the off white plates and the rest of the light fixtures in the house. It is bright white. I am thinking maybe not going with smart switches, just smart lights. ... show more

These are garbage, buy the Legrand wifi switches instead. They work great with Halo LED recessed lights!

    • Makes dumb lights smart
Installed 6 with 2 additional accessory dimmers. Works great on both LED and incandescent lights. Also installed the bridge required for internet and Alexa/Amazon Echo use, again easy set up and use.
