I had been trying out a selfie-style ring light for some videos, and while they were great if I also had supplemental lighting, they were not adequate for areas which were darker. And the best place in my house for videos gets almost no natural light. That's when I decided I needed a larger ring light. I went looking on Amazon for ring lights, but I didn't need something like an 18" or larger -- for the space where I'd be doing the videos, 18" was overkill. When I saw this 14" ring light (and saw that it had good reviews) I snatched one up. I have not been disappointed. The ring light came well-protected in its packaging. It has a nice carry bag if I want to take the light to different places. It was also very easy to set up and figure out how to use. The light is bright -- for the area I need illuminated, I only use it on the setting 26 -- which seems like it might be something akin to 26% because it can go way brighter. The tripod is sturdy, and the ring can rotate side-to-side a bit (not that I need it to, but it's a nice option to have). It does not, however, bend forwards or backwards -- kind of makes sense, seeing as the weight of the ring light might cause it to become unbalanced. If I had one wish, it would be that when the tripod was compacted as short as it could go...that it would go just a tiny bit shorter. The overall height when it's at its lowest is still a bit too high, so I've had to adjust my video setup. Still, it's not enough for me to deduct any points. And FYI, I have a Galaxy Note 8 and it worked fine in the clamp. I am very, very happy that I bought this ring light!!! ... show more

Pros: Very good for the price! Transitions from cool to warm well and can be adjusted from dim to very bright. I’m impressed with the amount of variance in light this ring provides. Perfect for beginner photography or vlogging/streaming. Cons: The stand is very light and doesn’t hold onto the light ring as well as I would like it to. The shutter remote is very cheaply made and doesn’t look like it will hold up for long (but who knows, maybe it will surprise me!) ... show more

    • Solid build for such a reasonable ring light
This is really very well built and a solid light! GVM has come through again, they pay attention to the details and build quality so the buyer gets great bang for the buck. The light itself offers great flexibility in color adjustment and brightness. I will need to use another stand if I am filming someone standing up, but the included piece is solid and manages the light well. The cord is nice and long too and firmly connects into the light. The Bluetooth remote is good if your using a cell phone, but won't work with a DSLR - cool to have around! From headshots to product and food shots, I am really glad I have this in my arsenal. Nice, easily transportable ring light! I ordered this to use as fill light for portrait photography and also plan to use it for food and flower photography over the Winter. It comes with a small carry case and breaks apart quickly and easily for storage. There are knobs to adjust power and color temperature. It’s also very convenient that it comes with the mount for a cell phone if you are doing self/family photos or want to mount for other photography to avoid blurry photos from hand-shake.     • Small, Not reliable.
I love it. It’s small for what I want but perfect for now. The clicker only worked the first day. Which is disappointing. 6mos later: the stand broke! It’s not allowing me to use the stand with it’s full height. I am a makeup artist that also does tutorials and this stand is how I do it. I am livid. I didn’t expect it to break 6mos down the line. I am looking for a bigger light anyway but this is truly upsetting. DO NOT BUY! Keep your money. ... show more

I'm glad I have this in my arsenal now. It's not the best in the market, but it's the best in it's price range. It's lightweight but the base is flimsy. I'd suggest weighting it down if using in studio or have more than one person behind the scenes. The remote and bluetooth are super easy to connect and use.     • Light is adequate, but the stand and attachments are CHEAP!
The stand and attachments on this product are virtually useless. Based on them alone, I wouldn't recommend anyone make the purchase. The phone holder broke as soon as I tried to use it. The springs flew out and it popped apart. I was able to piece it back together, but it wouldn't stay together. I wound up throwing it away and using another one I had. The stand is quite short (my fault for not looking for measurements). The stand poles come apart at the height adjustment screws. No matter how tight I screw them the poles slide down and the light descends. The light and power adapter may just be too heavy a pull for the stand the company is using. It is VERY unstable and cheaply made. Additionally, The directions accompanying the light were incorrect or out dated. They instructed me to screw the light onto the stand, when there was no way to do that. However, all that aside, the light itself is decent. The cool/warm and dim/bright adjustments are nice and the light does get quite bright. ... show more
