Description

Celebrate the significance, the magic, and the mojo of the world’s most seductive instrument. An obsessive, full-color book presented in an irresistible slipcase, Guitar features 200 instruments in stunning detail. Here are icons, like Prince’s Yellow Cloud, Willie Nelson’s “Trigger,” Muddy Water’s Thunderbird, and “Rocky,” lovingly hand-painted by its owner, George Harrison. Historic instruments—Fender’s Broadcaster, Les Paul’s “Log,” the Gibson Nick Lucas Special, the very first artist model. Hand-carved archtops, pinnacles of the luthier’s art, from John D’Angelico to Ken Parker. Stunning acoustics from a new wave of women builders, like Rosie Heydenrych of England, who’s known to use 5,000-year-old wood retrieved from a peat bog. And quirky one-of-a-kind guitars, like Linda Manzer’s Pikasso II—four necks, 42 strings, and a thousand pounds of pressure. Marrying pure visual pleasure with layers of information, Guitar is a glorious gift for every guitar-lover Read more

  • Printed in China
It’s a nice looking and relatively interesting book to flip through. I can’t recommend it as a “coffee table book” because it’s printed in China and made from cheap looking, cheap feeling, and cheap sounding materials. You hear it pop and crack as you open it. On most pages you’ll find a nice picture of a famous guitar, and a few lines describing what distinguishes it from others. Some artists are also featured. Not sure if buy again, and I’d be reluctant to gift it. But it’s ok I guess. ... show more

  • Gave as a gift
Bought for a friend and they said they really liked it. They opened it immediately and flipped through it. Then they searched for a specific guitar and it was in there. Happy it made them happy.

  • Husband loves it.
This book definitely was a surprise on Christmas morning!! My husband is not a big reader but he is a retired guitarist. He knows about guitars and who plays what. It's definitely packaged very well. I find myself taking it out and seeing the beautiful pictures and stories.

  • A Wonderful Book For Any Guitar Enthusiast!
This is by far the best celebration of guitar history I’ve ever seen in print. The pictures of the guitars and their stories are wonderful; However, there is only one frontal photo of each subject guitar. It would have been an additional treat if the author would have included photos of the instrument backs as well. There are some gorgeous woods (and luthier artwork) to be appreciated in most of these guitars. ... show more
