  • Hands down this has been the best purchase for our growing "helper"
Color: White Size: Large
Hands down this has been the best purchase for our growing "helper"! Our daughter was becoming interested in helping at the counter and we had pushed a kitchen chair up to the edge to allow her to help. She was so excited she had a hard time staying on the chair and it was freaking me out with balancing her on it with no sides. So we purchased this step setup the minute we saw it. It looked exactly like what I had pictured for her with the ample standing platform and the half step. It is a very sturdy piece and my husband assembled it with the help of our toddler so you know its not difficult to put together. The finish is very durable and so far has come clean from peanut butter (oily stuff), and blueberries (very potent stain colors). It is pure white and it has a slight semi-gloss finish. Smooth for wiping up messes. Our toddler also uses the step as a seat. Facing the platform she will sit on the step and use the platform as a table. So it is very versatile for them as a seat. The platform has two heights and once your child is tall enough you can lower the platform so that they can keep a comfortable height at the counter. This is a fairly large piece so if you have a tiny kitchen or intend to use it for a bathroom I would check measurements. The handles cut into the top sides help with moving this around the kitchen, but it is definitely big enough that a child couldn't move it themselves easily. I know the warning says small parts not for children under 3 - but we purchased this when our toddler was not quite 2.5 years old and she is very tall for her age. I do think it would be age appropriate for a 2 year old but with supervision. There is nothing that we have found on this that would pop off or be a choke hazard unless your child eats wood. The little stablizers that have to be added to the front legs are NOT pre-drilled so I highly recommend pre drilling holes for those or you risk splitting the wood. The weight limit on the piece would work for an adult too - so it would also make a quick and easy step up for someone needing a platform to safely reach items. We love this product and are so happy with the durability and stability. Would absolutely recommend to others! ... show more

  • Good product
Color: Natural Size: Small
I needed a higher step stool for my 18 mo grandson who is vertically challenged. This stool is an excellent choice. It’s high, but also sturdy (providing you take care to get the screws in right). The little handles at the top are well placed and ensure he’s balanced as he climbs up. Love the non slip grips on the stairs, too. Take time to get similar torque on the screws and maybe use light gloves to protect your hands if you have delicate hands. ... show more

  • Fits 2 kids!
Color: White Size: Small
I purchased this step stool with the intention of both my 4 year old and 3 year old sharing it at our kitchen island. This stool has been a game changer at our house. Both children can stand at my island and help cook or eat their breakfast in the morning. My 4 year old is slim and my 3 year old is a bigger build, but they can both stand on the stool. Assembly was about 10 minutes due to trying to get screws lined up accurately, but otherwise not too challenging. The steps have textured slip strips to avoid falls and I love all the smooth edges on the corners. This is well made. I purchased white which does get dirty easily, but I anticipated this going in. A little dish soap and wet rag help. I would purchase this again, no regrets. ... show more

  • Cross btween a step stool & a kitchen helper
I was looking for something between a wooden step stool and a children's kitchen helper. I wanted something sturdier, stabler, and taller than a typical step stool, with a handle bar or rail. But I also wanted something with an open front, so my toddler could climb it by herself without my having to lift her in and out of it like a typical kitchen helper. The wraparound "cage" design of typical kitchen helpers, I think, was unnecessary (even unhelpful). Her big brother had a Learning Tower at her age, but it was bulky and awkward to use. I tested a few other kitchen helpers (including Guidecraft's), but I didn't like any of them. I'm pleased to report that Guidecraft's High Rise Step-Up Stool fit all my criteria, and has been perfect for our needs — exceeding my expectations! My toddler, who is on the petite side, can safely reach the sink and kitchen counter by herself. She is so happy and proud to be able to wash her hands by herself (in truth, I have to help her turn on the water and reach the soap; but that's a bonus!). The anti-skid strips and guard rail are really useful additions. Although the step-up stool is a bit on the bulky side, it's nowhere near as bulky as the Learning Tower was, and unlike the kitchen helpers I tested it's easy to move thanks to the handles and light weight. But the best part is something I wasn't even expecting: It turns out it makes a perfect off-label high chair for our child-sized table! Sitting on the top step with her feet on the bottom, my daughter is just at the right level to eat, draw, play with play dough, etc. It actually works better than the child-sized chair that came with the table. (It wouldn't work as such for a full-sized table, though.) ... show more
