  • Very big. Very sturdy. Very heavy.
Size: 1 Pack
I was looking for a boom stand with a long reach that I could trust to not tip over. This definitely fits the bill. It's easy to use and can extend a truly incredible distance without losing balance. The only downside is that it's extremely heavy (of course, since that's part of what makes it stable) and takes up a lot of space. When set it, it has a pretty big footprint, and even when broken down for storage, it's still extremely long. ... show more

  • Prop boom mic stand
Size: 1 Pack
Great product easy to use and good assembly instructions. Very reasonable price as well! Gave me a coupon to use towards their website which is awesome. Also, I like how personable their receipt letter is. I definitely enjoy supporting a small business.

  • Heavy duty, multipurpose stand.
Size: 1 Pack
Rock solid! Very heavy, & takes up a lot of floor space, but puts the shotgun mic out of the camera's view. Also can hold a Vidpro on camera led light panel overhead for hair lighting using a Zoom mic clip adapter. Holds a GoPro camera for overhead shots as well. Great stand, fair price.

  • Love this Mike stand
Size: 1 Pack
The media could not be loaded. I love everything about this mic stand. It’s strong, big, not too complicated. Has wheels that work well, so you can slide it from room to room in your studio and the counterweight is great, it is strong with solid support and for the price it is excellent don’t think you’ll get a better deal for a new stand. This is definitely not one of those cheapo 20 a $30 mic stands more like the pro ultimate support type. I’ve only had to stand for about two weeks, but seems like it’s going to do well in my studio. ... show more

  • Professional and rugged
Size: 1 Pack
This product is everything that it claimed to be. It came very well packaged and protected. Setting it up was a snap. I used it in a recording session within a couple of days. I had a Blue Jeni Mic attached to it, which is pretty heavy, and it handled it with ease and grace. This is the first time that I use a boom stand over my grand piano with the assurance that it’s going to be OK. The product looks, feels, and performs professionally. ... show more

This would be a 4 star product if the manufacturer hadn't dropped the ball on the details. First off, if you're looking for a decent mid-heavyweight boom stand that won't break the bank, I suggest the Samson SB100. I have two of them and they're about $100 each. They are superior in every respect to the Griffin stand; more robust construction, higher, greater horizontal reach with larger counterweight, and more stable. I was looking for something with a slightly smaller footprint that I wouldn't be moving around much, so I tried the Griffin. It's a little disappointing because if the manufacturer had just taken care of a few details, this would be a nice stand. So, what's wrong with it? First off, the "directions" are pretty much worthless, as is the video they point you to. If you've assembled things like this, that's not a big deal. What is a big deal is that they did dumb things like forget to make a keyway for the carriage bolt that holds the arm to the upright. What this means is that when you try to tighten it, the bolt will spin (i.e., they have a round hole for the bolt instead of a square one that the bolt head would lock into). Thus, you're going to need to get out some tools to hack in a square hole (maybe a star washer would be sufficient, but I haven't tried it). The casters that they rave about are no big deal, just standard toe-lock casters. The casters on the Samson unit are considerably larger and all three lock, whereas only two of them lock on the Griffin. The bigger issue is that to tighten these, you'll need a special narrow wrench, which they do not include. Instead, they give you an allen (hex head) wrench which is not needed for anything. Also, if you do not need the casters because the stand will be in a fixed location, you're going to have to come up with some manner of foot/cushion, because these will scratch your floor (the Samson comes with plastic feet if you don't need the wheels). What else? Well, there's the very flimsy plastic locking collar for the upright. If you're going to adjust this regularly, I doubt it will last very long. This really should be metal. My workaround is to use a SmallRig camera clamp, positioned so that it rests on the plastic collar. This way, you don't have to crank down on the collar too much. Another option would be to drill holes in the upper shaft every 15cm/6in or so, and insert a steel pin (again, resting on the collar to take the stress off). Finally, there is the cheap plastic collet that is used to adjust and secure the boom arm extension. It's like every other cheap mic stand collet, meaning that it doesn't work well. A thumb screw feeding a tapped collar (like on the Samson) is a much better and easier to use design. On the plus side, it was just under $70, has a smaller footprint, is not too heavy or bulky, and fits my specific needs, so it works for me (with mods). It is just frustrating that if the company had just taken a little more time and care, this would be a great buy. Seriously, how much would it cost to make the keyway, use a metal collar instead of a plastic one, and add a little stamped wrench for the casters (instead of a useless allen wrench)? It just leaves you with the impression that the company wanted to get this thing out on the market ASAP at the lowest price they could, instead of ensuring that it was designed properly for the user. ... show more
