  • It’s not one size fits all exactly, but the size small covers a pretty large range of sizes
Size: Small-Medium Color: Sadie
I spent half of 2022 in the hospital and I so wish I had known about Gownies before I was recently discharged. Fortunately, I discovered them not long after and ordered a size small in the light red/pink floral pattern (and then some additional designs a couple of days later!) and they were GREAT for recovering. One of the side effects of both my illness and the surgery I had last month, was *massive* water retention. We’re talking over 180 lbs just out of surgery (nearly 70 pounds of additional fluid on my tiny 5’3”, small-boned frame, yikes!). I had so much fluid everywhere it was even in my lady bits. I was discharged May 19th and had dropped to 166 lbs already, but desperately needed something to wear while recovering at home that wouldn’t look awful and, fingers-crossed, would get me through massive amounts of water loss in a quick time frame. Indeed, I went from 166 to 112 in less than a month (so from a size 16-18 to a size 2-4-6, depending on the garment), and my Gownies — I eventually purchased four different patterns — held up great through the extreme changes in weight. I took a chance that the size small would be large enough and it was, but it still draped well as I shrank. They were really cute the whole way through (got LOTS of compliments), and even though I’m much smaller now, I had to return to the ER a couple of weeks and was so happy I remembered to bring one with me for sleeping and wearing while getting IV meds and various exams. They let you wear your own clothing from home most of the time, but don’t budge when a hospital-style gown is needed, pffft. Anyway, they’re 100% cotton, the colors and patterns are great (if a bit more ‘mommy & me’ than my normal style) and I can still use them as a nightgown or, more likely, swimsuit cover ups when I get the go ahead that my surgical wound is healed enough. It’s a hospital gown not an evening gown, so don’t expect a great fit, but compared to a standard one-size-fits-all hospital gown, it’s quite nice and you will just feel better, both physically and psychologically. It’s not just the size of standard hospital issue gowns that’s so annoying (they dwarfed me even at my heaviest), but the fact that standard hospital gowns tie in the back and generally leave you feeling exposed, frumpy, and cold, and they have a way of getting tangled up and collecting in the most uncomfortable ways. Gownies have snap buttons in both the front and back and for the most part, they stay closed, but give health care workers access where needed. And because they aren’t as exposed as a hospital gown, you feel a little warmer. In place where they try to pass off sheets as blankets, any little bit of extra warmth and comfort helps. As an aside, I tried another hospital-style gown from Amazon that was half the price and a very similar fit to the Gownies, but although the fabric pattern was adorable, the quality was not and the garment fell apart after only one wash, which didn’t surprised me as it arrived already frayed at the hems. ... show more

  • Very cute
Size: Small-Medium Color: Aspen
Not your stereotypical hospital gown. It has a feminine shape that makes it much more attractive than other gowns. Good quality fabric. Washes nicely and keeps its shape (so far).

  • Wonderful to have!
Size: XX-Large Color: Olivia
Bedridden and in pain with frequent hospitalizations, these are truly lifesavers. Easy on and easy off, they make for painless changes, easy bed baths and do great in the wash. They come in many designs. They sure make life easier!

  • Not for top heavy girls - order a size up
If you are top heavy, order a size up. I definitely appreciate the fact that whoever thought this up had women in mind, and it is more "figure" flattering than regular hospital gowns, but if you are top heavy, you will get the bulging open of the area by the snaps. I tried it on prior to my surgery, 40DD, and after my surgery, 40D. Prior to surgery, it bulges. After surgery, it was snug but only bulged when I sat down. NOTE: I had to wear this with it opening in the front, which means I was wearing it backwards (or some might say I was wearing it backwards). The material is very nice and thick, washes good, and doesn't wrinkly too much as long as you don't leave it in the dryer all day. The snaps are nice but I'm hoping they make one with maybe more snaps around the bust area, if you're like me and had to wear it with it opening in the front. The bottom snap always popped open unless I was super careful not to move my legs around. Not really a complaint - just letting people know. It wasn't a big deal. I just know there are people out there who think it might be a big deal. The sleeves could be a little longer. They're more like cap sleeves. When you know you're going to have surgery, us ladies usually try to shave our legs, underarms, etc. BUT once you've had surgery and may not be able to raise your arms, these sleeves may or may not cover your underarm hair. LOL. I'm not saying you could see mine - I'm just saying that I am not very hairy due to being Asian and I know each person's hair grows different. I personally prefer 3/4 sleeves so maybe that's why I was more paranoid. LOL. It definitely is worth the price. I only bought 2 for myself, and then after they arrived, I bought one for my sister in law because she was getting surgery the week after me. She really liked hers as well. ... show more

  • So many compliments!!!
I wore this while I was delivering my son this week, and every Nurse and Female Doctor complimented me on this gown. It is a nice quality fabric and is just like a hospital gown but since I got to pick the size, I felt more comfortable since I wasn’t swimming in it. Will definitely still use it at home for nursing at night. 10/10 would recommend! ... show more

  • Perfect for radiation therapy.
I recently had to undergo radiation therapy for breast cancer. I found the regular hospital gowns with ties that were provided to be awkward and always left me somewhat exposed. Not to mention the ties that turn into knots no matter how carefully you tie a bow. What I loved about this gown was it had snaps down the back. I could leave one or two undone to facilitate pulling my arm out of the gown as needed during treatment, but it was super easy to pull back up and re-snap at the neck so I had some dignity as I walked the halls at the radiation center. Many of the radiation techs commented on it and said how cheerful it was, how great the design was, and asked me to recommend to my radiation doctor that other patients buy them. It is extremely comfortable, launders beautifully, and made an otherwise stressful experience easier. It would make a great gift for an expectant mother or a breast cancer patient. ... show more

  • Great for hospital
Size: Large-X-Large Color: Isla
For dtrs hospital stay, this was great. Retained dignity while being accessible for hospital staff and giving birth. Sorry to say it had to be discarded after due to staining but still worth every penny to wear something considered to be your own and maintain dignity for that special event
