I bought these turf tiles for our very small backyard a little over a year ago. Our yard faces south so it gets direct sunlight, especially in the summer. A couple rows got too much sun I think and have melted. The rest of it has been great! I tried to level the dirt as best as I could and then spread sand over the dirt. I assembled the pieces as shown in the directions but it got a little complicated and difficult with the larger space. It’s been great for my dog to use the potty and the kids to have a soft place for their swing set. It cleans up easily with a pooper scooper and a sanitizing spray that hooks to your hose. Once they got put together it looks very nice. I agree with other reviews that putting all the squares together isn’t the easiest thing to do. Our grandson name over with his trusty mallet to complete the installation of stubborn squares. One fell apart. We were glad the package had an extra one. All that being said, our puppy is happy as a lark. Originally we ordered nine squares. She would do her business with coaxing. She likes to roam a lot before she goes. We decided to order 12 more to make the pad larger. BINGO she loves it. And needless to say we love it too. Despite some difficulty with putting the squares together the product in the end is great. These grass tiles are amazing! They came in earlier than expected too which is a win! They’re soft and don’t feel scratchy like others. I noticed some reviews saying they’re difficult to put together but they were a breeze for me. You just have to read the directions. Flip em over, line them up and step on them. I had some room left over on the edges but we added some nice rock around it and it was perfect. The apartment had loose rock in the back so we evened it out and placed the tiles on top with no problems. I’ll most likely be ordering more for the rest of our small patio ... show more

Once down, these tiles are great. They almost look like a full piece of turf given a week or two to settle. They aren't awful to install, but they also aren't super easy. I recommend having a mallet on hand for sure, carefully read the directions, and lay out the tiles iin exactly the same direction before starting. The only negative to these, which would be an easy fix for the manufacturer, is the turf does NOT have holes in it. It's just like any other turf I've seen and tends to let liquids slowly drip and seep through. That being said, it's working for us, because the plastic grate underneath does keep it from getting completely disgusting underneath (we have ours on a large wood deck that's been primed and heavily sealed. We rinse it every day, and we apply the following product once a week, which I cannot recommend enough. It is the ONLY reason the turf is a complete success for us and should honestly be sold as a kit. I've tried many deodorizing products, and this is the only one that has ever worked. My 8 year old Boston Terrier suddenly started having bladder issues and after ruling out any underlying medical issues we had to come up with some type of long term solution. We used male doggy diapers for a while, but since Boston Terriers have almost no tail they kept sliding off his rear end so they were not 100% effective and it was time for a new plan. Puppy pads seemed like a great idea but my dog is older and maybe a little set in his ways at this point, he showed zero interest in them. So now we are onto plan C which is the Golden Moon Artificial Grass... I chose this artificial grass because it had a higher rating on Amazon, it has its own drainage system instead of just being a mat of grass sitting directly on the ground, and the individual pieces snap together so you can configure it how you want and the pieces are a little more secured together if your dog likes to kick up grass with their back feet after they finish with their business. As others have mentioned, the grass squares themselves were a little difficult to snap together. This is largely due to the fact that the molded/cut edges of the small parts that actually "snap" together are not cleanly cut and have little tiny edges of extra plastic that make it difficult to insert the small tabs into the hole on the piece you are trying to connect. This might seem like a small issue, but when you take into consideration for the rectangular configuration they have pictured with this set, each piece is connected by either 16 or 24 of these tabs/holes snapped together times 6 pieces, it can be a bit of a headache. We ended up having to flip them over grass side down and hammering everything together one tab at a time. Luckily once its set up you don't have to deal with that again. There are also defined lines in the grass in between the interlocking grass panels, despite how much you try to fluff the grass up and blend it together. In the manufacturers picture it looks a lot better than the actual assembled product. Ours also seems to shed a lot. I am giving 3 stars because Amazon shows that rating as "It's Okay" which is basically how I feel about this product. We currently have this set up in our garage while we work on training our dog to use it on his own via a doggy door, but after winter is over and I can buy cheap sod again in individual pieces I will probably switch over to that. ... show more
