Ok, so I took the chance buying this because most of the reviews were from folk who had been given this speaker for the reviews. While I am thankful for the reviews and how this system works, I really wanted some on hand reviews. As they are to me more real, in the sense that the average user is going to tell me what they think no matter what. So that being said I thought after getting this, I would wait a bit to really get the feel for this speaker bar on various different applications including my games, video, music and such. So here it goes. So let's talk about the overall quality of this speaker bar, my first impression was the weight. It felt solid and was not in my opinion too heavy or too light but felt good. The plastic casing is the normal type you would see and is glossy. So it will get finger prints and such on it, but for their benefit most of the gloss is on the back of the speaker and should not cause to much visual discomfort. The grill is a matte silver finish that is solid and strong. I did notice as I was taking the plastic cover off the name plate that I was expecting some super shiny metallic chrome. But instead it was a matte chrome finish. In the long run I think the designers wanted something what would not reflect the light from the ceiling in your eyes and in my opinion this was a good design. The volume knob is large and very easy to adjust. It has a nice quality feel to it and the blue back light in my opinion is the perfect luminance and is almost twice as dim as my blue monitor led. Even in the dark it does not bother me and that is saying a lot for me. Now when looking at the grill in the light you can see the speaker outlines behind it and it appears that there are two main speakers, two tweeters and a passive woofer in the middle for bass. Looking at these with a flashlight shows to me a nice quality speaker set up as most don't even use tweeters anymore and just try to rely on the regular speakers to do that work. Now for the sound, where this speaker bar really shines is in the high bass-mids-to highs. If you’re looking for something with a decent bass then you will have to compliment this with a nice sub. By themselves they are not bad if you just need something at the office or you just need something simple for the occasional listener but if you listen to music and really want to be immersed in your sound it simply cannot do that without the help of a sub. If you can get yourself a small separate sub to go with these they really sound great. I just use a headphone splitter and a headphone to rca cord to connect my sub. My sub has a volume adjuster so I can tune it to match the volume of my speaker bar. Sound quality is decent but not Bose quality. It has good fidelity and it has a much bigger sound window than its size. What I mean by this is, if you listen to a song and close your eyes and forget that you are listening to a small speaker you will notice that some of the sounds come from around you. Now we’re not talking surround sound, but a natural expansion of the sound coming from the speakers. I have used many speakers and some of them sound like you are listening to them in a tunnel. Very little distinction between left and right can be heard. You get this a lot from speaker bars, especially with the smaller bars. This speaker bar does a good job of making it sound like the speakers are farther apart and gives a better overall listening enjoyment. This Speaker bar is powered by your USB port on your computer (See update) and has separate jacks for speaker input and mic. This Speaker bar does not have a internal mic but does have a headphone and mic jack in the front for easy hook up. Now for a little criticism, There are just four things I would have changed on this speaker bar. One is that the speaker input and mic jacks are not color coded but are both just grey. The only way you can even tell which one is which is to look really closely at the jacks and you will see the impression of a headphone or mic in the jacks plastic. Now I am still under 45 years and my eye sight is good. But I still had to get out the flash light to find those impressions. The next thing I would change is the quality of the speaker jack wires. The wires are thin and do not have a good quality feel to them and would be nice if they were a bit thicker and more robust. The third and last small gripe is that for those that don't have any sort of sub to work with, these really lack in anything under the 200hz level (high bass) even though the specs say it will play sounds down to 95hz which is a lower bass sound. That being said, I already knew this would be the case as small speakers cannot replicate those lows very well and speaker bars in general are part of that category. There is really no way to replicate good lows without a good sub. The last gripe is one I already knew about and that is the angle that the speaker sits at. honestly if your desk is like most normal desks then the speaker does not aim at you, but towards the ceiling. It would have been great if they would have added a couple of foam wedges with sticky backs so that it would allow you to change the angle of the speaker more towards you. In the end I am very happy with these speakers. I did not buy them to sit on my desk but to be mounted to the bottom of my monitor. I have a 24" NEC 2490WUXi ISP monitor and it has a very deep casing that allowed me to simply use some automotive double stick tape with a swipe of rubbing alcohol and they are now pretty much a permanent fixture. Since these monitors were not designed with speaker bars in mind I had to get creative. It works perfectly. So in the end, my overview is that these are great sounding speakers that could use a few updates. But that does not break the deal. They sound good and if you have a sub they are very nice. They were shipped super fast and in a world of few choices for good computer speaker bars this is a good choice as long as they meet your needs. (UPDATE 11-27-15 It turns out that I was getting all sorts of noise out of these speakers especially if I had the speaker bar volume up over half way. Every time I moved my mouse or scrolled the screen or basically anything it would pop and hiss and make all sorts of weird noises. You could really hear it in quiet environments. It turns out that I was getting a ground loop from the speakers power usb cord into my computer through the speaker jack. If I used a separate usb power supply to power the speakers it would not make any noise at all. It comes down to the speaker amp not being able to filter out the noise from the computer power supply and thus picking up every electronic sound the computer makes. So if you get one of these and it makes noise when you move your mouse or do anything on the screen then this is the only fix. Perhaps the manufacturer can find a way to filter this out on the next model. ... show more

Good soundbar, with a few critical flaws if you need to use corded headphones from time-to-time. Bought this because my pc needs speakers. I've been using it with headphones alone for nearly 6 months (Covid-19 Work-From-Home Build). My WFH setup is in my bedroom, so to avoid disturbing my wife, I use headphones often. However, there are times its nice not to have to wear them, and times where I want to share the audio with her or my kids, or just have background music playing in the room. The SonaVERSE UBR arrived promptly (2nd day via Prime) and was packed inside an oblong Amazon box. Could have included something to prevent the speaker box from moving around in it. Plugged the audio in, audio out and USB into the back of my machine. The soundbar works well - was able to turn up the volume without distortion (didn't take it to max) and it sounded good (I'm no audiophile though). The volume control has a nice blue glow under it - and nice feel - clicks from off to on and then has some resistance and light clicks as you turn the dial - feels very good. The problem I encountered was when I plugged my headphones back into the device. The first thing I noticed is that the volume dial doesn't control the headphone jack volume. So I got blaring full volume into the headphones until I lowered it in windows. That, by itself is really annoying - as I want to turn my windows volume to max, and then control the sound output using the volume control when using the soundbar. Naturally, I'd want the same when I plug my headphones in. Second issue, which was the deal killer, was that there's noise on the headphones line when nothing's playing, or when it's low volume. This might not matter as much when listening to loud music, but when listening to audio or using it for calls, it's horrible. I noticed that when I reached around back to disconnect the audio wires, just moving them caused the the noises to change. This suggests the wires are poorly insulated/balanced. The issue was subdued when I plug the soundbar into alternative audio ports on the front of my box, but it's still there. (plugging the same headphones into either the back or front audio output is completely absent of any noise). I contacted Amazon and they promptly sent me a replacement. Tried it and still getting noise. To make matters worse, the audio port had some play in it and I couldn't get stereo sound out of it without trying repeatedly to adjust the plug in it it. The second box had one of those leaflets saying "STOP - Do not return this product...". It claims Gogrove.com/support offers 24/7 tech support. While I don't think this is serviceable, I decided to try them out. Unfortunately the website informs you that they only offer M-F 8/5 Pacific time. I submitted a ticket, but don't expect to be contacted as it's Sunday. Sending both back. If you need to use headphones with your speakers/soundbar, skip this product. ... show more

    • Decent speaker, but some issues with headphones and mics

I bought this speaker to use with a Mac Mini, a pretty minimal computer with only a headphone port for audio in. So, I wanted a single speaker that had it's own headphone port, that way I wouldn't have to unplug the speakers whenever I wanted to use headphones. This is the only speaker I found for my needs and it works well overall. The big caveat is the mic setup. Like I said, Mac Minis only have one audio in port (as do most modern laptops and maybe other desktops). However, this speaker has a split plug, with one end for a headphone port and one for a mic port. This means that the mic port is unused on my computer (and probably will be one yours), which then means that I can't use the mic on my headphones for video calls because the headphones are being plugged into an audio only port. Thankfully, my webcam has a mic, so this should not be a problem for me personally (though I have yet to put it to the test). One other thing to note is, since most headphones have built in mics these days, plugging headphones into the audio only headphones port on the speaker leads to a bit of a wonky connection. Basically, you can't push the headphones all the way in, you'll experience static and messy sound, they can't can't be pushed all the way into the port if you want clean sound. The speaker sound is just okay, but it gets pretty loud. If you don't care about a headphone port, I've seen other speakers on here that I think are more attractive and likely have better sound for less money. ... show more
