  • Gift for my Wife and Why she returned it
I bought this deck for my wife. She has the Wisdom of Avalon cards and I sometimes pull a card with her. The card meanings are well-written and often right on. My wife still wishes the 21 Sacred Journey Marker cards in this deck didn’t all have the same imagery. She has been watching Colette on Hay House recently and became excited about a new Goddess deck. I bought the deck for her and was at the door to receive it from Amazon. I had her close her eyes and hold out her hands and put the deck box in her hands. She was so excited and then she wasn’t. I asked her to write a review even though she didn’t want to. So here is why she returned the deck in her words. As a fan of Hay House, I was reintroduced to Colette through their free online workshop promoting The Certified Card Reader Online Course. I enjoyed Colette's approach to reading cards and creating oracle decks and listened to some of her YouTube interviews. I signed up for her newsletter, which is how I came to learn about and excitedly purchase her Goddess Power Oracle cards. I returned the card deck to Amazon. I was asked to give a 200 character reason for the return and selected the best option - misleading website description. I realized that I have for more words to write than can be typed in 200 characters. “Colette Baron-Reid delivers a gorgeous” – the design on the back of all of the cards is very difficult to discern, the gold is so faint it makes the cards look cheap. “deluxe-packaged oracle deck” – this is definitely correct for the boxing by Hay House. However, the matte finish of the cards makes them difficult to shuffle and dulls the pictures. The font printing of the guidebook text is so faint and small I struggled to read the descriptions. The unusual font on the cards themselves is so difficult to read that I couldn’t tell if I was seeing a 1 or a 4, a 2 or a 7, and I often couldn’t read the first letter of the name of the goddess. “to enhance interactive and meaningful conversations with the Divine Feminine aspect of the universe” I can’t find a definition of Divine Feminine anywhere in the guidebook. The lack of definition makes it difficult to understand how to have a ‘conversation with the ‘Divine Feminine’. Currently there are so many definitions on line that I really wanted Colette’s concept. Unfortunately, without a pronunciation guide I can’t invoke the goddess to have the conversation. “Drawing upon the symbolic energy of many goddesses from ancient cultures around the world” For me this is the most egregious error in the description. The cards lack symbolic representation of the goddesses and their culture. Many of the goddesses from different cultures have the same geometric swirl imagery that is ambiguous and has no relevance to the specific goddess. The title and message box at the bottom of the cards is so large that it dramatically cuts down on space that could have been used for imagery that would evoke ‘symbolic energy’. “this oracle deck provides loving and clear guidance to those who seek it” “Striking, elegant interpretations of 52 goddesses from cultures all over the world await you in Goddess Power Oracle.” The over-sized guidebook has no section for describing the goddesses themselves and from which culture they were derived. I understand and whole-heartedly support Colette in her intention to go beyond the past myths and allow the goddesses to tell a current story that can inform our present lives. However, many of the ‘meanings’ are only remotely tied to the specific goddesses and could have been tied to many other images other than this goddess. “…the oracle leaves room for an evolving story.” I couldn’t find a story line in the meanings of the guidebook for each goddess, which would allow me as the reader to tell an intuitive story. I was left feeling ungrounded in the Divine Feminine that has flowed from the past and into our present. This oracle deck is priced far above any other oracle deck by this author, therefore I expected the description to be met and exceeded! ... show more

  • DO YOUR RESEARCH SO YOU DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY.
IF YOU REALLY FOLLOW THE GODDESSES AND ARE LOOKING FOR TRUTH THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. So.... sigh... here it is. These cards are beautiful... the book is nice too, however a few of the Goddesses don’t look true to form... (as depicted or explained with symbolism/etc...) and a few of the things that Colette said in the book doesn’t match up with the actual Goddesses.... I recommend doing RESEARCH on the deck before purchase. Google, YouTube... research. This is not an authentic deck. If you want a deck that’s pretty to collect or to play with then, sure.... but for the purpose of actual tarot, I can’t recommend this. ... show more

  • Super Accurate and Beautiful
This is a controversial deck. Colette Baron Reid studied goddesses from lots of cultures and distilled their whole archetype into one idea for each. This has made people in the community angry. For me, it isn't a problem, because I understand that she wanted this to be nontraditional and to have it be more intuitively read. That being said, I wish that she had combined the mythology book with the "meaning" book. I feel like I have to do much more research on my own to know the myths and how it relates to her "word" for each goddess. I also have to do my own studying to find out the proper pronunciation for each goddess. I do wish she would create a video that goes over each card/meaning/name pronunciation/myth. That would help me a lot. At first, I didn't like the cards, because to me they looked like all young goddesses at Coachella. Not, real at all. But they have grown on me. The cards that I chose to show, are a bit of the diversity in the deck. I wish there were some older goddesses, but at least there's a few. The cards are beautiful. They are a nice card stock. Easy to shuffle. They don't spread out very easily, but if you are reader that pulls from the top of the deck, this should not be a problem. The box is quality and is such a nice house for the deck and book. I would love this deck to be an android app. I took off one star, because the myth book should have been included into the reading book. It also could have been fuller meanings in the book, but after all that, I still like it. If I was a person of color, or a strictly religious person, I might have issues with this deck, and if that describes you, please think about that before purchase. But, if you are like me and find meaning with lots of various spiritualities and cultures, then you may like this deck. ... show more

  • Instant Connection
First of all I want to thank Colette for including Lilith, Kali, & Hecate in this deck. That was the main issue for me to purchase this deck & won me over. Overall, I feel very connected to this. It is very supportive, accurate, empowering, & encouraging. Helping to look within ourselves to find what we need to heal or address & how to. Sometimes yes the truth may sting a bit, but it is the truth we need to know & I feel this deck delivers that. First card I drew asking the energy of this deck was 39 Nyx which seemed like it has a sarcastic sense of humor all on its own with that card as it asks basically to wait for Divine Timing. Some secrets are meant to be revealed when they are meant to be. The only issue I really had was the packaging where the sleeve was extremely tight to remove, but that I overlook as the deck is what really matters. ... show more
