So I am not a dummy but not thoroughly experienced with auto repair and the world to give this a comparison. I had no issues with this. It was exactly like the model my 96 silverado 4wd used. Got the clips and it went right in. I double then triple checked I was doing it right because of how easy it was. The clamp portion that holds it to your brake, was always a solid hold and showed no damage. I was actually afraid I missed something as I expected more difficulty. It’s not the easiest thing to install! Trying to get to the old one not so great. I wasn’t removing the steering column. Scratched my hands a bit. But to install once you get the plug in it’s easy to put back. But the little clip... that’s a duzy. Have fun with that! I gave up for the day. I’ll go back and pop it on later. At least my tail lights work now! ... show more

    • Solved my Cruise Control problem.
I bought this at the advice from a friend. These switches also control the cutoff for the cruise control and have a separate circuit inside to do it, if the circuit fails/corrodes/stops working your brake lights will still come on but your cruise control won't work. I was able to replace it in maybe ten minutes and my cruise control is working fine again. ... show more

Perfect OEM replacement brake light switch for my 97 Chevy. It does not come with the clip that you usually break while you're removing the old one. So you will need to invest in a little blister pack of them about five bucks.

The videos I watched make the removal and reinstallation of this part look easy. I have big hands and the space is really tight so I struggled a bit more to remove and replace this part. The difficult part is removing the spring clip and washer, then replacing them once the new part is in. Once installed, the part worked perfectly and now my brake lights work like they were designed to. ... show more
