  • Great product. Only 2 downsides that I can think of.
It has all the features they say and it feels of good quality. Overall it is a great purchase. The only 2 downsides that I can think of are: 1- The included ball head is not as good as others I've seen, feels a bit too plasticky and it is not as versatile as others I've seen. Though it can hold a camera easily. Luckily it uses a standard screw so it can be replaced for a better one if you want. 2- The tripod has to be VERY sturdy to hold the mount in a stable way. My tripod is definitely not, so I may need to get a better tripod. A better tripod is normally also heavier, so it may be a downside for those thinking about moving around with this mount. Also, the better the tripod is, the lesser counterweight you will need, so basically you are doomed to carry a heavy load, even if you have a lightweight tripod. This is not exactly a downside for this product, but more of a warning to keep in mind before purchasing it. Overall it is an great thing to have, very versatile and good quality for the price. ... show more

  • Indispensable for some photo jobs.
This is a nicely built product that I've using extensively now for nearly a year. My only issue with it is that the provided camera mount to ball joint is too short for the kind of quick releases that I'm using (Manfrotto) and often interferes with the ball joint handle. I modified mine to add an extra half inch and the issue is gone. I'm using this to get deep within the scene's of a huge (2k square feet) train layout for focus stacked shots that would be impossible to get without a sturdy rig to hold my XT4 firmly. This extension arm is mounted on a tripod gear head for precise positioning in the scene and I'm using two 5lbs weights (Big 5 Sporting Goods) for counterbalance. I use a remote shutter release since the camera is usually out of reach. After nearly 500 uses, the adjustable parts still lock down tight. Can't imagine not having this now. ... show more

  • Works fine for what I need
I looked at multiple options for what I wanted this for. I was looking for overhead filming capabilities on a table. Some of the options were very expensive, and some of them were just not what I was looking for. I finally opted for this one because it seemed simple and cost effective. The ability to use it is dependent upon the quality of your stand that you put it on. I have 2 very good quality tripod stands and it works with either of them. I have a digital camera that I could use, but I felt it was too heavy for what I had in mind, so I just use my phone for this, and it works well. The extension capability is nice. It comes with the two washers that you can put a weight in between if you need that. I will probably purchase one or two just in case I want to use my heavier digital camera. The connections where you attach it on the tripod as well attaching the camera are good quality and seem very secure. Overall it feels like a quality piece of equipment that will function fine for my overhead filming that I do. ... show more

  • Solid Adjustments - Not Too Expensive
I am using this to get a DSLR with zoom lens (set up to function as a webcam) at a good angle for online art demos. I was looking for some sort of arm or boom I could mount to a tripod that would reach far enough to get the camera out over my drawing board. This seemed to have the longest reach available without jumping to a six or seven foot boom or building some sort of super-structure to mount the camera from overhead. The whole mount seems lightweight - but everything locks down firmly and doesn't slide out of position. I have counter balanced the camera with 12 1/2 lbs. of barbell plates - and the whole set-up seems stable. ... show more

  • Heavy duty but heavy
I tried to use this on a regular tripod with a 4LB camcorder at the end. The bar itself is pretty heavy and added to the weight the tripod had to carry. Since the tripod was for a camera it wasn't strong enough to carry the combined weight. The insert kept "camming" out of the reciever. Good heavy duty bar but you'll need a very heavy duty tripod to carry the weight. ... show more

  • Versatile and Easy to Use
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! :D I’m an artist and a teacher and have recently started a YouTube channel (“Mr. Drew Paints With You” ;) ) to supplement what I teach my students in class. Up until now, I’ve had to just shoot videos of me working from over my shoulder. That’s fine. But it always gives a bit of a skewed perspective. I’ve seen other overhead rigs for 2 to 3 times the cost of this. The appeal here is that it works perfectly with my existing tripod so I can get a better overhead shot of me working. Very versatile and easy to adjust! ... show more

  • Risk breaking your camera
So upset. This came in with no counterweight or how much weight to use. The picture is misleading and it is also not convenient to connect and disconnect camera. It will tip your tripod and break your 1100 camera. Do not buy. So unsatisfied. I’ll go to bestbuy and get something they always have good products and a knowledgeable staff person. ... show more

  • Great lateral tripod arm
The media could not be loaded. I love this lateral arm for my in process videos and flat lays. It works great with my DSLR and my cell phone. Very sturdy attached to my tripod. I suggest attaching your DSLR to the arm and then placing the arm on your tripod. The included cell phone holder works great and fits snugly on my Pixel. ... show more
