When you first open the package, it smells strongly like spray paint but we had them on the tables outside a few hours before our shindig and the smell went away pretty quickly. These were thicker than I expected and I would definitely buy them again. This was a kids party and there wasn't a single tear in the table clothes by the end of the party.
