  • A Good Start, But Expect To Do Some Work
Style: Dual Split
Sounds great on my 6.4 hemi Ram 2500 4x4. Installation was not especially difficult. The factory system came off nicely without cutting. The hardest part of disassembly was getting the rubber hangers off! Lube them well and use a long pry bar for best results. The provided clamps are plain steel saddle clamps, so I used stainless band clamps instead, since road salt eats mild steel fast here in NY. The front pipe, muffler and over-axle pipes fit nicely. Clearance is a little tight on the LH over-axle for my taste, but it doesn’t rattle so far and the front of the system seems pretty solidly positioned. Unfortunately, like many aftermarket kits, the tailpipes are supplied in two pieces. The two exit pipes are identical, side-to-side. That’s definitely not a good idea because there is no possible way to make them exit at the same angle and point under the bumper no matter how you rotate them. The LH pipe needs more bend and the RH needs less bend than the angle provided. I’m fussy and no amount of adjustment will get the exits to where they need to be to satisfy me. SEE PIC: left pipe is too far out and down a bit; right pipe is too close to center. I’ll be taking my truck to the local exhaust shop to have the tails rebent. I’ll also be adding additional hangers near the tips to support the long tailpipes. The supplied LH hanger doesn’t support the LH tailpipe adequately in my opinion. One more thing, there are no condensate drain holes in the muffler or the polished tips. I drilled my own to let the water out. After it was all finished I‘m pretty happy - it sounds great, too. Pretty similar to a SRT car. There’s probably a considerable weight savings over the giant heavy stock muffler and resonator, also. Edit: July, 2023 less than 4 years since installation, my truck now has 30,600 miles and the entire rear cap of the lifetime guaranteed stainless muffler is rusted completely away (see photos). I have contacted Gibson and will update when I hear back from them. Pretty disappointing. Update Aug. 2023: Gibson sent me a replacement muffler only. No hanger (they wanted $46+ shipping for some bent rod), no clamps, either. Plus they charged me over $40 to ship it! The old exhaust was rusted together (stainless, remember?) and I couldn’t get it apart. Ended up paying almost $200 to have the replacement muffler installed by a pro. I can’t possibly recommend this brand to anyone who drives in the rust belt. Lowered rating to 3 stars based on poor longevity and customer service. ... show more
