  • Really fun and get's you in the Halloween spirit!
I love Darcy Coates, she is an automatic buy for me. I remember reading Ghost Camera 5 or 6 years ago and so it was really exciting to see it's re-release! Also the bonus of additional short stories was awesome. Every one of them is great, spooky and creepy. Darcy is perfect for horror if you do not want super gruesome or heartbreaking doom and gloom. Most stories end with a "happy" note but not all. She is excellent with her settings and tension building, each story feels unique. Definitely pick this one up, it will get you ready for spooky season! ... show more

  • Such a great collection
Let me start off I’m usually not a fan of anthologies but I really liked this collection of short stories. The writing was good and this was my first Darcy Coates novel but definitely not my last I think I have two or three more waiting for me to read them. Starting off with Ghost Camera it was unnerving and interesting I think it would make a good movie. The next story, Payment for the Dead, the boy being resurrected reminded me of the movie Terrified I watched last year. Death Birds, Untamed Things, and A Box of Tapes were probably my favorite stories. The House on Boxwood Lane, Remains, The Run to Broken Ridge Lighthouse, and Cathedral were pretty good too but the other ones definitely gave me more of the creeps. This is a great collection of horror stories! Definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Not very scary but good Halloween read
This is the first book I have read by this author and it has definitely made me want to read some more of their work. While it was not wildly scary or anything it was the type of story I would want to read during the month of October for Halloween. Things start off rather slowly and benign but start to take on a life of its own as you find out more about the camera which is the main focus of things. The characters are alright even if they are a little thin as far as who they are, you get some glimpses of personality which at least allow you to form an opinion about them. This is a relatively short piece and a fast read because it does hold your interest, if you like ghost stories that is. Jenine is attending a wedding and decides that she would like to create a photo album for the bride that has candid shots of the wedding party and not just the posed shots taken by the wedding photographer. In order to do this she goes to the lighthouse located close by to take an overhead shot and stumbles across a Polaroid camera. She tries the camera out and finds that it still works but the picture does not only capture the guests who can be seen but some uninvited ghostly guests as well. Jenine takes the camera to her friend Bree and shows her what it does putting her friend in jeopardy as well though she does not know it at the time. As ghosts seem to be coming closer and things seem to be getting scarier the women try to find help for their situation. But what can they do when they seem to have opened a door to the other side. There is enough tension and suspense that you should enjoy this short look into the supernatural. I would give this a thumbs up and say go for it! ... show more

  • A fun and scary collection.
Ghost Camera, by Darcy Coates, is a just released collection of novellas and short stories, with the title story being one of her earlier works. Having been out of print for a while, I am pleased to see that it has been resurrected (no pun intended) for us spooky story fans to enjoy. A few of the other short stories I had already read, but it was a pleasure to see these works put out together. Darcy Coates has been writing supernatural stories for a long time now, and I have previously enjoyed many of her works. I would certainly recommend this collection to anyone else who is a fan of the genre. ... show more

  • spooky, but amazing
This book was very spooky. I couldn’t put it down, but had to at night because it gave me the creeps. I loved all of it. The short stories were very well written and grabbed my attention right away.

  • Great
The book arrived in perfect condition and was shipped with great care. Although I haven't read it yet, I believe the shipping method deserves a review here. I will share my thoughts on the book itself after I have read it.

  • Wow
Some of these stories truly had me scared to sleep in the dark. So well written. I hadn't paid attention to the fact that this was a summary of short stories. Not normally my ideal book. But I loved it!
