    • Hard to go wrong with Ghirardelli hot cocoa
Ghirardelli Hot Cocoa for Two Gift Set: $34.98 at the time of review Normally I like to add a little bit of a preamble as to why I am searching for and trying a particular product. But in this case, I don't really think I need that much justification for a delicious hot cocoa set, especially one from Ghirardelli. *What I liked*: The set is exactly what I thought it would be. A cute little mug set with a couple packs of hot cocoa, candy canes and included tubes of specialty sugars. It's cute and it would make a great gift (in fact, this seems tailor made to be given as a gift). As for the hot cocoa, it did not disappoint. I've had access to Ghirardelli chocolate directly from the source (whether it be from working in the bay area or having family that lives there) for a long time now, and I love it! I've had their hot cocoa before and this is no different. *What I didn't like*: I wouldn't necessarily consider this a bad thing, but I wasn't sure where else to list it. The cocoa itself is pretty sweet and doesn't need additional sugar. I love the idea of adding cinnamon sugar or vanilla sugar to the cocoa, but I didn't really add enough to make a huge difference in the flavor as I was worried about over sweetening my drink. Kids will most likely love it though. *The Bottom Line:* At the end of the day, I think this would make a great gift set. If you're looking for a cold weather or holiday themed treat for someone, it's hard to go wrong here. While the price at the time of review is a little on the high side (about $35) there are many other more expensive options that don't give you as much bang for your buck. Frankly, I think this is probably worth 4.5 stars, but that nagging value proposition is gonna keep me from rounding it up to five (since we have to round one way or another). So my final score here will be four stars out of five. It's delicious cocoa and if you can find it at a lower price point than $35, then it's a five star item for sure. ... show more

    • BUy two, you won't want to give it away!
This is a great set - you get everything you need, but every part is premium, from the mugs to the snowflake marshmallows. The hot cocoa has that real chocolate taste. ( If you're not dairy-free, I recommend steamed milk) The mugs are handle-less, which encourages you to lift it up with both hands and enjoy it warming your face. To me the really great bonus is the vanilla sugar, which I've never seen in a hot chocolate set before. I made a rim around the mugs with it and it was a big hit. The main presentation box for this gift set is very nice, however I was disappointed in the fact that when opened, the brown cover liner was ripped and one of the peppermint sticks was broken. Had I given this as a gift I would have been embarrassed. The mugs are attractive, but should have handles and I could not find a “use by date” on the marshmallow topper or hot cocoa mix, so I did not feel comfortable trying it out to see how it tasted.     • An Attractive Set That Could Use More Cocoa
This is a really nice gift set. It comes with two handle-less mugs that can be used over and over as well as two servings of hot cocoa with all the fixings – marshmallows, peppermint sticks, and two kinds of sugar. Although this is a gift set for two, my only complaint is that I wish it had more servings of hot cocoa. Given that there are only two servings, the amount of extras to add to the cocoa is somewhat overkill, especially the sugar which is probably more than you’ll use in two servings. The set comes in an attractive box and is neatly packed and is a nice gift option for someone who you’re not sure what to get. Again though, I just wish it had come with more cocoa. ... show more
