  • Really great for what it's not supposed to be for.
So you have this buffered very clean input. After that it's a chain of simple effects. Probably all 741 op-amp IC circuit. Which is fine. Cheap is great sometimes. It has two modes. A hard to use pre-set mode, and a hard to use manual mode. The easiest way to use it in the real world is to keep the usb connector plugged into it and your computer, and mess around with the cab preset options. Tweak and test and make 3 amazing presets. The effects are meh. Not crap, just meh. so I do something different. (the chorus is pretty good though) i make 3 presets with my 3 favorite amp IR's. They give you a tool to change them. You can find and download amp IR's off the net. All the ones stock on the device appear to have been recorded close mic with an SM57. So you can use those, and set the "distance" slider to 20. If you do find some amazing sounding IR Impulse file for a cab and it's not close mic'd, set the slider to 1 before uploading it to the cube baby. I set each preset with NO reverb, NO, modulation, NO boost or gain. It's just the IR amp, with "Type" set to 0 so there's no preamp. Then I run my pedals and my preamp in front of it into a computer. And it sounds freaking amazing. Consider that: 40 bucks for what can be an outstanding Guitar to computer recording pedal, with your Three favorite cabs on buttons you can push. All by itself that's great. That alone is amazing for the price. And it sounds amazing, and works amazing just at this. Factor in you can then throw five more "testing" cabs on it, and screw around with them in manual mode for hours. You find something new, you can write it down. Maybe swap one out. That's the joy of this pedal. I'm testing an IR based on the JCM800 power section and cab. It's fun. I can't believe how cheap this fun is. Get some of this cheap fun if you have a guitar. Definitely get their "cubesuite" software, and in the very least use it to set your presets and learn how. Now, despite all that. Their amp models are actually pretty good. The Mesa ones aren't perfect, but good for what they are. It's a selection bias, not a sound bias. They have a lot of Texas and Marshall and that's it. If you love Soldano and Fender and Marshall, you'll be good with the stock device. You'll love it. You won't believe how cheap it is for how sturdy it feels. It's a weird pain figuring it out, but worth doing. Now, on top of ALL OF THAT, it has a built in battery too. You can walk around with this thing in your pocket, annoying people. For hours. All of that for 40 bucks. ... show more

  • Small package BIG sound
I wouldn't recommend using for gigs though it could be used. STRICTLY an at home/studio rig for me but way more sound than what you pay for

  • It’s an alright pedal
Pedal definitely has a lot of options for the money, however, I found it a bit noisy, too much hiss so returned it and actually bought mini pedals. Also, I like to use my reverb and delay in the loop however I can’t use the amp part if I do so, and the amp part is what I didn’t like about this pedal, distortion sounds like I’m using a cheap speaker. Reverb and delay worked fine tho. ... show more

  • I was skeptical but…
Was looking for a second pedal for my traveling gigs and for the price I decided it was worth risking. This tiny pedal is a dream come true. No more stupid 9v cables… just charge it via usb and go. The quality of the effects is decent and on top of that I can connect my phone and play my tracks thru it via Bluetooth…what else do you want for 50 bucks??? I hope other manufacturers will catch up to the Chinese because this is the future of pedals. ... show more

  • Possibly the biggest bang for your buck multi effects pedal ever made.
Usually, the higher the price of an item is, the higher the quality. However, there are exceptions. and this pedal is an exception. The engineering and build quality on this pedal are truly amazing. It is really hard to figure out how to use all the features though. Aside from that, this is such a great product. ... show more

  • Pretty slick
I like this little pedal. It gets a lot of different effects for such a small unit and the battery life is great. Worth the money

  • Latency Test - Feature Review
If you are a traveling amateur / hotel room aficionado then this pedal is pretty great. Easy to use, battery powered, the clean sounds are reasonable and the dirty sounds are a bit harsh but the fine. The usual for a low end item. Ultimately it's fun to play with and is barely bigger than your hand. For $50 it's amazing, hands down. NERD ALERT! When I first played it, the latency bugged me so I did some testing with Pro Tools and discovered the latency is about 10ms (1/100 of a second), which is like standing 9ft from a guitar amp, except it's not if you have headphones in playing guitar in your hotel room. For most amateur players that isn't an issue, but for me I think it is, so I'm going to give it four stars and return it for the Zoom G Four, which I'd imagine is less. Other than that, it's solid and easy and fun with a boatload of easy to use features. The rechargeable battery is awesome. Update: I just tested the Zoom G Four, and the Boss ME80 (love that Boss ME80) and both clock in between 1ms and 2ms latency, which is basically instantaneous. This would explain why the 10ms delay of the Getaria bugged me. ... show more
