  • Great product
On occasion, the 2 generators do not "synch" immediately and you have to restart one of them to get a green light. Other than that, it works beautifully and gives us plenty of power to run the air conditioner and electrical appliances on our RV. What is even better is that you can buy a pair of Iq2000's for just a little more than one Honda of the same capacity. Update: Just recently got back from a 4 day Boondocking trip in 90 degree temperatures. Generators ran continuously for the entire time. Some additional observations: First of all, make sure you have really good quality gas. I think we got a some contamination in one of the tanks. When the generators are running at high load - we had the air conditioner in our 38 ft camper going along with the microwave and refrigerator as well as the 12v converter / battery charger, If one of the generators falters even slightly, the parallel kit tries to shift the entire load to the other generator. This would overload it and cause it to go offline causing the entire load to shift back the first generator, causing it to also go offline. Drove us crazy until we figured out what was going on! Also, the load sharing is not always instantaneous, meaning that if you are running close to the maximum capacity and a big capacitance load (like the refrigerator) comes on the unit may take a second to evenly distribute the load between the two generators. During this time one of the generators can overload and go offline, causing the other to overload also. I am still keeping my 5 star rating but here are a couple of things to consider: Should you just get a 4000 watt inverter / generator to begin with? Maybe yes, if you expect to be routinely using it at very high loads, especially capacitance loads (ie motors) bearing in mind 1) it may actually be MORE expensive to get one 4000 watt unit than a pair of iQ2000's with the parallel kit 2) the iQ2000 is truly portable. One person can easily carry it like a suitcase whereas a 4000 watt unit really requires two people. 3) if you will frequently be using it at lower loads why have the inconvience, increased gas consumption, and increased noise of a big heavy unit when you really don't need it. 4) if the weather is cool and we are not going to use the RV air conditioner, a single 2000 watt unit is MORE than enough, Finally, we live out in the country on 26 acres. I frequently take one of my generators to a remote part of the property to run power tools or lights. There is no way I want to haul around a 4000 watt unit when I don't need it, I guess the bottom line is if what you really need is a 4000 watt unit, then that is probably what you should buy. If you occasionally need 4000 watts but like the idea of having a light, portable 2000 watt unit as well, a pair of iQ2000's with this parallel kit is a great option. ... show more

  • Hoping for the best, but got a dud!
I picked up two Generac 2000 generators from Costco. I immediately ordered this parallel kit. I filled the generators with oil and followed the start up instructions. Both generators started right away, and ran quiet. Following the directions to parallel the units it was difficult to parallel the generators. After several attempts, I finally got them to work parallel. I tested them out on my camper, turning on the AC. Everything fired up perfectly for about five minutes. I shut the units off and restarted them. One generator started idling high with no load. I waited to see if it would adjust itself. I shut it down after no luck with the high idle. When I tried to restart the generator it was very difficult to pull, and would not start. That was all I needed, I took the generators back to Costco, and sent the parallel kit back. I went with a different brand, and it was a night and day difference. ... show more
