We have some problems with our water, and this works very well. Only complaint, we have a 5 gal. water delivery system, so mainly use the frig for ice. It has a built in timer and you have to replace every 6 months, no matter how much you use it. But, as I said it does a great job and I think that feature may be from the frig manufacturer, not this product ... show more

    • The Brand-Name Refrigerator's filter installs after practice & is expensive
You have to buy the GE Brand filter but it it relatively easy to install. Needs to be replaced every 6 months. The product is expensive, but don't try off-brand cheaper versions. These would not install ....?? Bite the bullet, you have no real choice as far as I have seen. This situation is like buying a computer printer that seems to be cheap, but the ink is expensive.     • Way over-priced but what are you going to do?

I didn't realize how slow my water dispenser had become. Once I put in the new filter the water flow increased tremendously. I guess the old filter was mostly clogged and had slowed down considerably since the last filter change. I'm not sure why these filters are so expensive as there is not that much to them but it sure is nice to fill up my cup in 1/3 the time. Make sure to run some water through the system to flush out any debris caused by the filter change. Also, you might want to save some of your old ice to use while you throw out 3-4 cycles of the ice from the new filter. I forgot to do this and ended up with what I think is charcoal dust in the bottom of my water cup (after the ice had melted). ... show more
