The media could not be loaded. This is a great stand mixer from GE. There are so many capabilities, I doubt I will need another anytime in the near future. It is sleek and elegant looking, and just looking at it leaves no question that it is a high quality product. Finding a place to store it is a challenge, and I will be leaving it on my island until I can build an addition on it to store this massive piece of kitchenware. The attachments connect and disconnect easily and function perfectly. One great feature I had not noticed with other whisk attachments is the section with a large gap. This makes it easy to scrape batter out with a spatula. The dough hook is pretty typical as is the paddle, with the exception of styling. The built-in scale is great, but I wish it could measure in less than 5g increments. I am not entirely sure how the scale works though, because if the mixing bowl is off the base on the arms, it is able to weigh it. It is also able to weigh contents of a bowl sitting on the bottom of the mixer. I don't have a set of weights, co I cannot verify the accuracy of the scale, but it is a little off from the scale I usually use. "These go to eleven." As the infamous saying goes, this mixer for some reason goes to 11. Not sure why, but maybe it is an homage to the Marshall amp from Spinal Tap. Fortunately, you don't need to master the speed settings yourself since the "Smart HQ" app is loaded with several guided recipes to make your baking easier. It was a little wonky to setup the App initially, but once I got through it I realized how helpful it could be. Admittedly, I did need a little help from TS, who were also unfamiliar with the mixer. Voice Control leaves something to be desired, but it really is a secondary feature. For safety purposes, the mixer cannot be started with voice, but you can change the speeds or stop it vocally. You can also issue the reverse command with voice control, but the speed must first be set to "zero". Personally, I don't foresee myself using the voice control much, so the difficulties really won't matter much to me. The attachment socket on the front of the mixer works just as well as any other mixer. I tested out a Shaved Ice attachment and it connected/disconnected easily. I have not checked into if lubricating the socket is necessary or not, but I will need to make sure before I use the attachments much more. Next attachment I get for this will be a grain mill so I can custom make some flours for breadmaking. That is about all I have to say about this mixer. If the cost is not an issue for you and you are looking for a first-time purchase, or an upgrade/replacement for your current mixer, you will not be sorry for picking this one up. I have used a variety of different mixers over my baking/cooking life so I'm always hesitant to try a new one because then you have to relearn all the ways of that machine. However, I am so happily pleased with this machine! Lots of great points and a few notes to know: -very easy to use, great instructions, a lot like most mixers -smart app can be used for convenience but not necessary (for those of us who like old-school manual too) -comes with excellent attachments and a stainless steel bowl (my preference to the glass ones) -attachments are heavy duty and work really well. I'm a big fan of the whisk as it's a little different than the classic one but works so much better, imo -attachments attach with a single snap (no twisting or such) -everything can go in the dishwasher -it's heavy overall but not much bigger than my standard kitchenaid -the bowl lift is different than I've ever seen. I had to look it up on how to use it. The first two pictures show you how to use the bowl lift (arms have a push lever) -the accessory thing on the front is a standard size so I can use my kitchenaid ice cream maker, meat grinder, etc. with it (love, love, love this!) -has a digital weight feature which is awesome for bakers -easy-to-read digital face with a variety of modes including weight, speed, and more Overall, I am a big fan now. Wasn't sure how much I'd like the smart features but I love them! The machine works really well, everything is easy to clean, takes up no more room than a regular kitchenaid mixer, and definitely levels up my baking methods. Love it! ... show more

We previously used a KitchenAid 6qt stand mixer for many years, and this GE stand mixer offers a number of convenience improvements. First, GE's built in scale is fantastic. You can precisely measure ingredients in grams or ounces directly within the mixing bowl. It is both convenient and accurate. Second, everything is dishwasher safe. The attachments are all dishwasher safe, and since the built in scale negates the need for separate measuring bowls you also have less to wash. Third and finally, the attachments are very simple to use. Quick connect and disconnect and smooth operation. However, there are some drawbacks too. The heavy weight of the mixer (~40lbs) means it is not portable. Wherever it sits in your kitchen is where it will stay. However, the heavy weight also makes it very stable for mixing and kneading dough. Since this is a smart mixer, there is an app and it can connect to your network. I'm wary of this. Big IT companies are already victims of security breaches and hacks, and I don't see a good reason to have this mixer online. The app lets you monitor the mixer, but you can't remotely start mixing. (This would be a very bad idea anyway.) GE advertises smart sensing for app based recipes so the mixer knows when something is sufficiently mixed, but overall its clunky to use. Foregoing the online feature means the autosense functionality is disabled, unfortunately. I'm also not confident the app will stay updated and relevant for the life of the mixer, assuming this mixer lasts as long as our old KitchenAid. And finally, there's the price consideration - this mixer is expensive. It offers great convenience, but is the convenience worth $200 over the KitchenAid? If you use the smart features and autosense, I think it is worth the premium. But if you plan to stay offline, it is hard to justify the convenience advantages for that price. ... show more
