  • Find the fish!!
Style: Fishfinder
As an avid fisherman, I’ve used my fair share of fish finders over the years, but the Garmin Striker 4cv with Transducer has really impressed me. After using it on several fishing trips, I can confidently say it’s one of the best value-for-money fish finders available. Here’s my detailed review based on my experience: Ease of Setup: One of the standout features of the Garmin Striker 4cv is how easy it is to set up and get started. The user manual is clear and straightforward, and the installation of the transducer and mounting the unit onto my boat was a breeze. Within minutes, I had it up and running, which was a huge relief compared to other more complicated systems I’ve used in the past. The intuitive interface also makes navigating through menus simple, even for someone who isn’t particularly tech-savvy. Display Quality: The 4.3-inch color display on the Striker 4cv is vibrant, sharp, and easy to read in both bright sunlight and low light conditions. The clarity and brightness of the screen ensure that even small details, like fish hiding near the bottom or submerged structures, are clearly visible. The display also has an adjustable backlight for those early morning or evening fishing sessions. The split-screen feature is great for showing both sonar data and GPS maps at the same time, offering a lot of flexibility. Sonar Technology (CHIRP and ClearVü): The CHIRP sonar on the Striker 4cv is top-notch. I’ve been impressed with how much more detail I get compared to traditional 2D sonar. It provides a clearer picture of fish and underwater structures, which has helped me locate fish much more easily. The ClearVü technology is particularly impressive, as it delivers incredibly detailed images of the water below, showing fish and structures with a level of clarity that I didn’t expect from a mid-range unit. With this technology, it’s much easier to identify schools of fish or submerged rocks and drop-offs, which gives me a huge advantage when fishing in unfamiliar waters. GPS and Waypoints: The built-in GPS on the Garmin Striker 4cv is reliable and accurate. It helps me navigate the waters without worrying about getting lost or losing my position. I’ve used it to mark waypoints at productive fishing spots, and it makes it incredibly easy to return to those locations on future trips. The waypoint management feature is intuitive, and I can easily store and organize multiple spots, which is ideal for fishing in large areas or when I need to keep track of different locations over time. Durability and Build: The Striker 4cv feels like a durable, well-made piece of equipment. The mounting system is sturdy and secures the unit well, even in choppy waters. The entire system is designed to withstand tough conditions, and the screen is scratch-resistant, which is a nice touch for a device that gets used in a variety of outdoor environments. I also appreciate the compact size, which makes it easy to mount without taking up too much space on my boat. Performance: Performance-wise, the Garmin Striker 4cv excels. It’s fast and responsive, giving accurate readings with minimal lag. The depth readings are precise, and the fish arches and fish ID features are incredibly accurate in helping to locate fish. Whether I’m fishing in shallow rivers or deeper lakes, this unit adapts well and provides clear, useful data that helps me make informed decisions while fishing. Value for Money: For the price, the Garmin Striker 4cv with Transducer offers exceptional value. It provides high-end sonar and GPS features typically found in more expensive models, making it an affordable choice for anglers who want advanced technology without breaking the bank. The combination of CHIRP sonar, ClearVü, and GPS makes this unit a great option for both casual and serious fishermen. Final Thoughts: Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the Garmin Striker 4cv with Transducer. It offers an excellent balance of performance, ease of use, and affordability. The detailed sonar imaging and built-in GPS have greatly improved my fishing experience, making it easier to locate fish and return to productive spots. If you’re looking for a reliable fish finder that provides clear, accurate data without a steep learning curve, this is a fantastic option. Would I buy it again? Absolutely! I’m very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a quality fish finder. Final Verdict: Highly recommended! The Garmin Striker 4cv with Transducer is a game-changer for anglers looking for a user-friendly, feature-packed fish finder at an excellent price. It has significantly improved my fishing trips, and I’m confident it will do the same for other anglers. ... show more

  • See the fish. Seize the fish.
Style: Fishfinder
The Garmin Striker Plus 4Cv with Cv20-TM transducer comes with everything you need to install on your boat or on your trolling motor. I chose it among other reasons for its low profile for my baby bass & crappie boat. (Sundolphin Sportsman 8.5.) Since you shouldn't drill holes in plastic boats I chose to hang it onto my trolling motor. Unfortunately the transducer was a bit too long so I shoved it back against the trolling motor fin which means it was canted to one side. I cleverly shimmed it out with some pieces of rubber and it's halfway vertical anyway. No matter... It still works PERFECTLY. Not terribly impressed with the bottom map making feature at this point. However the GPS is NEAT for adding waypoints at choice locations. It's been on 3 outings so far and all is el perfecto. I have been doing depth finders since the days of the spinning fish flashers. Clever users could actually interpret stray flashes as fish. Sort of. I must say...just a few years ago the technology you get in this little package would have cost hundreds more. It's truly amazing! One thing I did run into...and this may be just my brain...but it has a "day" and "night" mode screen. You'd think day mode would be the choice for the daytime...but it ain't. I could not figger out for the life of my humble self the other day why the screen wouldn't light up. Could barely see it. Finally out of panic and frustration I clicked NIGHT mode and poof...nice bright screen. All they say about looking great in the sun is correct. I find I tend to run in the legacy mode most of the time. I flip over to ClearVu when something really interesting scrolls by. Fish don't show up nearly as well in ClearVu, but you can get a hugely better idea of the shape of structures down below. It's fascinating. Combined, it's almost wicked, and cheatful, how much info you can glean from the screen. The other day I saw the crappie... pulled my minner over them and bammo! Again and again and again. That's the power of a great depth finder. Well, unless you don't like cleaning fish. You'll also find a surface water temp monitor and a battery voltage indicator. Use the indicator! 12.70VPlus and you're fully charged. 12.2V and you are 50%. At 12V you best head for the put in...You are sucking air at 25%. The thing also tells time. Ha! And that's handy. The GPS mph monitor is great as well. On a speed run test I got my Sundolphin up to 2.85mph on the way back to the take out! Like I say, I bought it for my play boat. For real big boy bass boats you could use it up front for your trolling activities. One of the best toys I have! Get one. You'll be thankin' me! ... show more

  • Really good...almost.
Style: Fishfinder
I have used this unit several times now. Install was easy. The screen is pretty easy to see in the sunlight and overall I am happy with the unit. This fishfinder is small but suits my needs on a little jonboat well. It's a feature packed unit which is good but I have had a heck of a time figuring out how to use them. The directions that come with the unit are install only. It would have been nice to have a tutorial on how to use its many features. I found it's not hard to navigate the features on the fly out on the water but knowing how to use it and knowing what it's seeing is a whole different thing. Trial and error has got me using it more. The internet is full of info on fishfinders and how they work, but a basic tutorial would have saved me hours of frustration. All in all its a great little fishfinder for the money. Just do your research on how to use it or it will end up just being a depth/temperature meter. ... show more
