  • Perfect for runner! Questionable sleep tracker.
Color: Gold with Black Band
I LOVE this watch! I tried some cheaper options first and decided to suck it up and shell out the extra cash for this watch. The step-counter is very accurate. The GPS for running is also very accurate, it tracks the runs I do regularly exactly the same distance every time. I love how easy it is to pair to headphones and control the music while I run. My only complaints are: 1) how annoying the auto pause/start feature is when using the running feature. I'll start running, hit start, and it pauses for some reason, and makes me fiddle with it to get it to start again. But then, when I actually do pause during a run at a light or something, it doesn't always register that i've paused, and then won't restart appropriately. No worries, the top right button is easy enough to start/stop manually (in fact it's much less of a hassle). 2) The sleep tracker doesn't empathize with me. There are nights when I wake up and look at my phone/watch to see what time it is, and then do that paranoid thing where you periodically keep looking at the time just to remind yourself of how mad you are that you're not asleep. Hours of sad frustration pass by... The Venu does accurately register when you woke up in the middle of the night, but only records it as ~1 minute of "awake" time--- it then records the painful hours you may have spent laying wide awake as "deep sleep". So you get 4 hours of sleep and this thing tells you congrats, great job, you got 8.5 hours or deep/REM sleep. I just want the Venu to tell it to me like it is. Otherwise, attractive and highly useful watch. ... show more

  • Accurate calorie burn! Incorporates heart rate into determining activity calorie burn
I came to Garmin late. I had been a long time Fitbit user and when my Fitbit charge 2 crashed after 2 year's I decided I needed a change and an activity tracking watch that would last longer. I tried both the Fossil Juliana watch and the Samsung Galaxy watch in May 2020 before I tried Garmin. My problem with both the Fossil and Samsung watches Is that even though they both track heart rate, they do not actually incorporate your heart rate into calorie burn during activities. So if you were to take your watch off, Put it down on the table, and start an activity with either the Fossil and the Samsung watch they would give you the exact same calories burned as if you actually had your watch on your wrist and were walking, or if you had your watch on and were running hard. They both have a preset calorie burn per activity level which makes no sense. I think it's ridiculous that they do not incorporate their heart rate tracking into determining the activity calorie burn. So finally I got to the Garmin venu watch last and I absolutely love it. It tracks heart rate and pulse ox, it incorporates heart rate and intensity level of exercise to give you a more accurate calorie burn, similar to what Fitbit does. I find that the calories burned on the Garmin tend to be a little bit under what I previously got with Fitbit, but Garmin is likely more accurate. I think Fitbit usually overstated calorie burn. I count my daily calorie intake and I find that with my Garmin watch when I have a net zero calorie deficit my weight stays the same, and when I have a calorie deficit i lose weight. So I find it very helpful for weight maintenance. If you have a Fitbit and are thinking of switching to a different brand definitely choose Garmin If you need to watch for activity and calorie tracking. I also like the GPS function for tracking outdoor runs and walks on the Garmin device. The only thing that is terrible about the Garmin watch is the sleep tracking, it is completely inaccurate and overestimates sleep. Basically as long as you are laying down the watch is going to say you were sleeping and and it says that I get 8 hours of sleep every night, despite the fact that I struggle with insomnia. Fitbit was much more accurate at sleep tracking. The Garmin is also more expensive but I'm hoping it lasts longer than the Fitbit. ... show more

  • Awesome fitness watch!
This watch first off is super pretty and stylish. It is a great fitness tracker and heart rate monitor. I enjoy the step and calorie counting aswell. I tried a samsung watch that was like a mini phone on my watch and i wasnt a big fan, talking on the phone with your watch is cool but not if you haveto charge it everyday. With that being said, its not a mini phone, so you cant text or call with it, though it will alert u u recieved a text or call when youre in range of phone. I enjoy that it is more basic, and the battery life, with my setting choice, lasts me about 3-4 days. Only two things i wish it had were an actual "hike" tracker, i cant decide if i should use "walk" or "stair climb" or "cardio" in substitute. Also i wish there was the emergency alert option even when your phone wasnt nearby. I love that i can run with nothing in my hands (besides pepperspray). I dont want to bring my bulky phone, id feel that much more safe if there was an emergency option when im out in the trails phoneless. Other than that it is a fun gadget. And it does what it claims to do well. I wear it everyday! The band is very comfortable and it charges within an hour! Super fast charging speed ... show more

  • Great watch for workouts
Color: Gold with Black Band
Wonderful watch for working out, limited on other functions. Can reply to texts, but only preselected responses. Music controls only work with music downloaded from a paid plan, not with apps on the phone. Limited app usage without paying for better apps. The workout features are astounding. The video guides are great, the GPS is wonderful (with limited guidance features). All in all, if you're using it to workout or plan on spending more money on apps it's perfect. Limited watch/phone interaction. Battery life is good, about 3 days with active use, 5-6 otherwise. Built like a tank. ... show more
