Every year when the vegetable garden starts to sprout the battle starts with the wild turkeys who especially like young bean seedlings. They actually will walk down a row picking each seedling out of the ground, eat the seed and move to the next. So... this year we are trying this fence. It was easy to work with as we already had the classic steel fence posts with the hooks. We did not need to cut the fence as we planned the bean garden based on the 50 foot fence length. It is working so far and the area seems too small for the turkeys to want to fly in and then out. We expect to be able to roll the fence up and store inside over winter. Roll fencing is a good alternative for lightweight protection of delicate landscaping and offering instant security for your furry and little beings. Combined with drive-in metal T-posts or stapled to wooden posts, the rolled wire fence can be quickly installed as you unroll the material. This roll from Jotesnew is the standard 2x3 spacing wire fence that is available from any number of vendors. What makes it more advantageous for a decorative landscape is the fact that the galvanized wire is also coated in a black PVC coating that adds corrosion resistance and makes the material practically disappear into the background. Constructed of 16 gauge wire, it is a little more stout than lesser priced versions. Unless you’re attempting to withhold a herd of buffalo, this stuff is sufficient for resisting smaller animals or to prevent casual grazing from hooved wildlife, provided you have it anchored properly. We use the fencing to wrap around our newly planted trees and shrubs to keep them from being eaten or antler-rubbed by the deer population. The wire lends itself to easy install by cutting it with a pair of wire cutters or metal snips. We then take the ends and loop them around the opposite end of the fence to make a cylinder of wire. These cylinders are then placed around the trees and staked to the ground. We have done the same with rolls of hardware cloth and have found the wider spacing of this product allows for less wind resistance and keeps them from being blown over. As far as value is concerned, we were able to source a version of this fence from one of the big box home improvement stores for $19 less. Their description does not include the gauge size, so it may be a lighter weight wire. However, we'd spend $20 in gas driving to the store to purchase a roll, so there is that. Due to increased cost of this fencing from Jotesnew, we deducted a star, but as far as quality is concerned, this is first rate fencing, so let Amazon deliver it and call it even. ... show more

    • Attractive and works well for many critters.
I couldn't decide whether to use this attractive fencing to keep my chickens out or keep them in. I've tried both and right now their freedom to roam is winning out. Therefore, I am able to use this fence around the garden to keep them, and all sorts of critters out of the garden. I'll be adding a few strategically placed fishing lines around it to keep the deer out as well. This would also look good paired with spit rail fence. I like the fence, but I do wonder if the 16 gauge claim includes the thickness of the plastic coating. ... show more

I used this to line the bottom of our wood fence to keep our new chihuahua-mix puppy in. Easy to install with a staple gun. Looks good. You can barely tell it's there. Strong metal and the coating is nice. I got this to put on posts to surround my wife's raised garden to keep animals out of it. It attaches easily to the metal fence posts and stands straight. It's great fencing to keep rabbits and deer out of her garden.

Our chickens think they are living in a high-rent area! Their new Garden Fence, Black PVC Coated, Welded Wire Fence, 48 Inch x 50 Foot looks so nice, much classier than their previous fence did! It was easy to install and is the perfect size for our chicken run. The few cuts we had to make were easy to do. I love the coating as it will keep it from rusting as quickly.     • Great for Light Use
I ordered this garden fencing because during the Spring I have issues with rabbits coming into my yard, eating the grass and defecating everywhere. I unpacked/unrolled the fencing and found fairly lightweight 16 gauge (just over 1/16th inch) wiring. The finish looked intact over the entire roll. I measured the length and attached garden fence to a wrought iron fence using zip ties (I would have used something sturdier if it was going to be a year round installation). I'm hoping the finish will stay intact to avoid rust on my wrought iron. The fencing was very easy to install and does in fact keep the rabbits out of my yard. However, small squirrels can squeeze through the 2x3 inch mesh because the wire is deformable. So depending on the size of the critters you want to keep out of your yard/garden, you may want to overlap/offset two thicknesses of the fencing to make the mesh size smaller.
