Description

The Astra Militarum Army Set brings you a fearsome army of Cadian soldiers, all with redesigned and new multipart plastic kits, suitable both for brand new projects and bolstering existing collections. A capable Command Squad leads from the front, while masses of infantry Shock Troops march to war alongside heavy Field Ordnance and an Armoured Sentinel walker. This balanced army is ready to crush the many foes of the Imperium, or lay down their lives in the attempt. This box is also the first place to find the new Codex: Astra Militarum, a 154-page hardback book with an exclusive cover, equipping you with inspiring lore, updated rules, and epic artwork. In addition to the book and models, you’ll find a complete deck of datacards, and a Cadian Transfer Sheet replete with almost 600 markings, text, and numerals. Be amongst the first wave to establish a foothold with this army set, and show the galaxy that though the planet may break, the Imperial Guard never will. When I got this it was at such a deep discount I could not resist. $90 for the same content as the combat patrol, plus you get a bunch of other good stuff. Even though the codex is for a different edition of the game it is still a cool book to have with lots of lore stuff.

    • A Great Purchase but Some Issues
The box contained everything in as expected. The quality of the models was great and the the book and art work was the standard that GW always has. However, upon opening the box, the plastic packing material was cracked and seriously damaged. This led to some of the data cards being damaged. I thought that it might have been due to shipping, but I checked with other's who have purchased the same box, many have had the same issue. The contents of the box are great but be careful and check before you buy as the packing material may be damaged as well. Just a careful warning! ... show more

    • Great sculpts, good price, a worthwhile set.
The new sculpts are good. The Assembly instructions were fair and had some confusing parts. The sprue actually includes all the needed bits for any most legal configurations The list of units is a balanced start for a small game and is easily doubled up without issue.     • Nicely detailed minis, and an outdated book
I’ll be rating this purely on the miniatures in the box, as the codex inside is for 9th edition, and currently the 10th edition of 40k is well underway. The models in this box look fantastic. The updated Guardsmen infantry look better than ever, and include a variety of head options and equipment too. The new sentinel walker is nice, and importantly for me, comes with a bunch of bits such and tools, packs, and gas cans that can be added on to either the sentinel itself or the tank kits in the Guard’s range. My favorite models in this box are the FOBs, the pair of large artillery pieces that can be built either as artillery cannons, missile launchers, or heavy lascannons — and importantly, you can build duplicates. There’s 2 of each version on the sprue, so you can double up on the variant if you really like it ; like I did with the lascannons. ... show more

Is there a nest of foul mutants, coven of vile heretics, or swarm of hateful xenos at your door? Then the forces of the Astra Militarum are the answer! Armed with only flashlights, a gun that has a one in six chance of killing the operator, and a wheelbarrow to carry their big brass… confidences into battle these men and women will purge whatever enemies you’re plagued with in the name of The Emperor. This set is a good place to start, but will only build 380-400 points of troops, so it needs to be rounded out a bit for a 500 point game.     • Don't buy unless it's less than the combat patrol
This box contains the combat patrol, anything "extra" is from 9th edition, which is now outdated (current edition is 10th, and basically nothing carries over). I picked this up for $99 and that was a great deal.

Picked this up for $99, couldn’t believe it. Really nice box. The poster was damaged from the spruce rubbing on it, as they always are. Even a Leviathan I bought from a local store had the same damage; it is a flaw in the way GW packages these. Awesome set, highly recommend.
