I really like using this stuff. It does a great job of breaking down the pigments of the colored pencils use, which I always get the Cra-Z-Art 72 pack cause I just color for fun and relaxation so I don't see a need for me specifically to have really expensive pencils. This truly is odorless too. I have tried a couple other cheaper brands that still had a bit of an odor to them. This stuff definitely has no smell; however, there are still fumes. So I keep the little jar I pour this stuff into about an arms length away while I'm using it. I've included an image below that shows a blue to green to yellow blend. The blend on the left I used this OMS (Odorless Mineral Spirits) with a blending stump, and the blend on the right is simply colored with the pencils and no blending. This 16 ounce container should last a good deal of time too. It goes a long way. This is now going to be my go-to. When this does finally run out, I'll come right back for another one. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking into trying out solvents for blending colored pencils. ... show more

This is an excellent solvent for colored pencils! Take a paintbrush, wet the paintbrush either by dipping it in gamsol or dipping a bit of paper towel in the gamsol and wetting the brush with it, then dab the brush on the paper towel to absorb any excess (you don't need a ton of solvent, less can be more). Then gently and carefully paint the areas you would like to blend. Make sure the area you'd like to blend has plenty of pigment and layers on it already, and you'll be able to fill in the white spots really nicely. If it doesn't have enough pigment, the solvent will just push the colors around and make it look light/patchy but if you have enough, it will be fine and blend things beautifully. Also be careful and blend starting from light to dark and wipe the paintbrush off every so often to avoid your drawing getting muddy from dark colors blending into lighter areas. The attached picture shows a drawing of hair before using gamsol on the left and after using it on the right (the outer parts that still have white spots are just areas where I hadn't used it yet) ... show more

    • The only thing that ever gets oil paint out of my brushes!
This is the best stuff for sloppy painters like me! Oil paint is very hard to clean up but if you catch it right away and swipe it with this product it cleans off instantly! A lifesaver when you're painting in a small apartment. It evern gets paint spots out of my clothes! Swipe it with this and with cold water, then when most of the offending stain has melted away spray with shout and run through the washing maching. Voila! Stain is gone. ... show more
