I really like the little bit of addition characters it adds to the room but the bookshelf is very, very light. It definitely requires the brackets provided to keep it anchored to the wall. It can hold quite a bit of books for sure, but do note that you cannot change the shelf height, which does create some limitations for my use, which involves some oversized music scores. Pros- very sturdy, great look, all pieces labeled and hardware there. Easy to assemble minus the one con below. Cons- the instruction book, throw it away. No written instructions, just a few pictures that can be confusing. The letters of the boards and hardware are the same. Overall very happy would purchase again. This bookshelf has a nice modern looking unique design with a small size and slim/narrow profile. The bookshelf seems to be made of good quality materials. It is predominantly made of a wood material with a smooth black finish and a few "support"/"design" pieces that go in between each shelf that are made of metal with a matter black painted finish. The surface of bookshelf seems pretty durable so far and the surface area of the shelves has a good amount of space for books, decorative items, etc. However, it does show fingerprints very easily (even when touched with freshly washed hands) but the shelves are easy to wipe down without having any issues using a very damp rag on it after it was built. Also to note, the bookshelf is easy to assemble and can be built by one person. It took me about an hour to build by myself. Once built, it is not too heavy so I was able to lift it myself, however, depending on how tall you are or how much weight you can safely lift, a second person may be need for the last step of flipping the bookshelf over and to move it into place where you want it. The bookshelf itself seems pretty sturdy so far and it comes with hardware to be able to secure it to the wall for extra stability. There are two things about this bookshelf that I am not crazy about. The first thing is that there are 4 screws that go through the top/surface at the end of each shelf that are visible and the shelf does not come with any type of sticker or screw covers to hide these. This exposed screws make the bookshelf look cheap to me however they can be hidden by putting something on top of them. The other thing I am not crazy about is the bottom of the bookshelf. The bookshelf does not have any feet on the bottom of it, instead it comes with 6 cloth protective feet pads that stick to the bottom of the shelf. After seeing the bookshelf in person, I wish it had feet on it (even it they were an inch) as I feel like it looks like it is missing something since the bottom shelf just sits directly on the floor. Also since there are no feet, if the surface you are putting the bookshelf on is not completely leveled/flat, the bookshelf cannot be leveled out by a slight adjustment of feet, which would be extremely helpful to be able to adjust the bookshelf to fit the space you need it in. To sum the up, there are a few things I am not crazy about on this bookshelf but they are not total deal breakers for me.
