Nice shelf with terrible mounting

The shelf is really nice and strong but the mounting system is the pits. I wanted to mount it with screws so I did. Major problem if you need to use the plastic screw anchors which I did. The mounting plate for the wall is quite small and mounts with 2 screws directly above and below each other and n
ot far apart. The top of the heads of the screw anchors cannot not be flush with the wall when fully inserted and thus hold the mounting bracket (and subsequently the shelf) away from the wall. The result is the mounting plate rocks sideways like a see-saw with the anchor heads as the pivot point since they hold the back edge of the shelf the thickness of the anchor heads away from the wall. Would probably not have been a problem if the mounting plate had recesses for the anchor heads but it does not. I solved the problem enough by cutting narrow strips of the adhesive mounting pads they provided and sticking then to the back edge of the shelf to significantly reduce the side-to-side rocking motion. Each mounting plate has a bubble level built in. I found them to not be very accurate but, no matter. It is very difficult to get 2 anchors installed exactly vertical and no really-useful adjustment for leveling them once on the wall. I mounted them both anyway and will hope the thickness of the adhesive pads will provide enough pressure against the wall to keep them in place. They also did not come with a template for marking the screw positions on the wall.

Cute, lightweight, easy to install

Exactly as seen in photos. The only thing that can be better is the sturdiness. Definitely would not advise anything heavy and try to keep the weight balanced. Otherwise it’s worth the price!!

Allowed us to add a shelf in our bathroom

We wanted to be able to keep a box of facial tissues in our bathroom, but after a remodel this year we found ourselves without anywhere to place such a box. So after a bit of thought and searching we found these shelves, and they have solved our problem. We already had a cover for the tissue box, whi
ch cover matches the bathroom motif. What we needed was a place to keep it. The new toilet is a top button flush model, and its lid is slanted anyway. We have a lovely sink, but it didn't present enough room for a tissue box. What we did have was some unused wall space between the sink and the toilet, and that's where we put this shelf. We used a removable adhesive product (we put this on our nice marble wall - drilling holes wasn't an option for us) instead of the adhesive pads provided, so we can't comment upon how well those adhesive pads would work. Since the provided adhesive pads are 3M I would hope that they would be of good quality, though. Now we have a box of tissues conveniently located within easy reach, but without losing any precious sink-top space.

Shelves look great and are easy to install

My cat recently learned how to climb on the top rail of my bed. The way he gets up there is scary but he loves being up there so I thought I would hang some shelves to make it safer for him and me both. I was hoping for something simple looking that would make nice stairs for him. The shelf had to lo
ok good, be sturdy, wide, safe, and reasonably priced. I settled on these shelves and they turned out better than I expected. Mounting them was really easy. The instructions are written pretty simple but still easy to figure out. There is a jig included making it easier to space and level the brackets. The brackets themselves have a level included in them. While the brackets are inside the jig you can be sure they are level and screw them directly to the wall. Once screwed to the wall you slide the jig off and then slide the shelf on. It is pretty simple. I hung each shelf so one bracket was on a stud (blue tape marking the stud) and the other used the included drywall anchor. I hung all 4 in about 45 minutes but there was a cat slowing me down because he was trying to steal my boxes. My cat didn't really want to use the new staircase but he almost fell getting up there and I had to get him down, now he only uses the stairs to go up. Coming down he still prefers to jump on the bed because it's obviously more fun that way. I thought about putting something non-skid on the shelves mainly because he has horrible depth perception because he recently lost one eye (I rescued him after he lost it so don't be mad at me). However, they really are not that slippery and he can walk up and down and not jump. This really doesn't have a lot to do with the shelves themselves but anyone else looking to hang some nice looking, non-carpeted, cat shelves will care about that bit.

Disapointed with the pore craftmanship

I have been working really hard on my home office. I am part of a few groups that rate desk and gaming setups so I really have been tweaking my office to look great. I have some Star Wars figures I have been waiting to display and I knew shelves would be the right way to do it. The problem is I didn'
t want to go with the same boring style of shelf that you would see in a home. I wanted something that looked different. That's what made these stand out so much to me. The way these shelves hangover really looks neat. The issues seem to be the same that I see others have had with these and that is the quality control. I have one shelf cracked in the same place others here have complained about I also have at the top of the shelves the nails or screws that hold them together are sticking up. It really is a shame since these are so cool-looking. I plan on using them anyway because I think where I plan on hanging them no one will be able to see the crack or raised area from the screws. Overall if you are getting these for the look they rock but if you are worried about the craftmanship then I would think twice.

Hanging for bedside tables, it took some finesse to measure. Tricky for me to tell when the plastic hooks where tight again
st the wall before over tightening; because, the template blocks that view. Thought I was being slow and careful but two of four plastic hooks cracked a little. But loosening those screws, the shelves when on great and sturdy! Real wood, solid hardware, the bubble levels are nice but inconsistent (probably because they are so small) having another level was nice to compare. Take extra gentleness to get them up, then these shelves are wonderful! Holding several large books, nbd. And look PERFECT! Thank you FYTZ Design!

Great small space solution

I needed a small shelf or mini size “night stand” to place a lamp and cell phone in my guest room. I used the double sided tape as my lamp weighs 1 pound. Terrible mistake. The shelf fell and the other one was leaning forward, away from wall and it only had a usb cable and a small phone stand on top.
Learn from my mistake and take the extra time to anchor the shelves to the wall. The instructions are on the product page. It’s easy to follow. Now, I won’t worry about them falling on a guest. Note that the tape does peel off paint. Ultimately, the shelves did work in that tight space and they fit nicely with my decor.

Very disappointed with this product. I applied the shelves to the wall exactly as instructed and one fell off the wall 3 days later. Luckily the small glass candle that was on the shelf didn't break. And the issue definitely wasn't due to excess weight as the candle weighs less than a pound.
